Ugliest Seville ever

2752 Views 22 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  Dadillac
Yesterday, I saw what may be the ugliest Seville ever. Even uglier than those hideous opera coupes. It was a '98-'04 Seville, in red paint. What made this car ugly, was the cloth roof on it. Not your normal rag roof, but a 1/4 roof. Kind of like a mid '80s Eldo roof. The rag top went around the rear window, onto the rear doors, ended right at the little window at the rear door, and then onto the roof. So the actual roof portion that was covered, was about 4-6 inches wide. If I ever see a photo of one, I will post it in this thread. If anyone here reads this, and has a car that fits this description, just remember, that it is just my opinion. But, I will also say that you have my deepest sympathies. Just remembering this car, makes me want to vomit. Just wanted to get it off of my chest.

Hey that's my car!!

Just kidding:D But I understand you completely.
Well, I found a pic. It is from E&G's website. The roof I saw, was almost identical to tjis one. You decide.

Hello...

IMO you just gotta love it for what it is...a landau top.
It's just an accessory...like cloth seats or rear defrost.

Yes, I think it looked better on 70's and 80's models.
My favorite 2 cars with landau tops that I've owned are:

1977 Buick Electra 225 Limited
1984 Buick Regal Limited

The Fleetwood is the only other car with a vinyl top that I would own.

I don't know, I would say that I've seen worse cars than that, but... that is heading towards fugly.
Meh it aint that bad. Nowhere near the ugliness of the bustlebacks of the early 80s and especailly the opera coupes.
IMO it looks good on the car in the pic. But I wouldn't want it on any other color of car.

I always liked my vinyl top;

Ahhh, now that's nice.
I'm indifferent to landau and full covers. IMHO all they do is promote rust. I'd much rather see the sheet metal and take care of it.
The ones that annoy me are the tops that try to look like convertables, including the snaps for the non-existing cover.
my father has a cloth roof on his Deville but without all the extra chrome and crap like the snaps, his style is the kind I like the best. I'll take a picture of it real quick from my window and post it in a few minutes.
Here's a couple of pictures of my father's Deville with my SLS in the background, but I couldn't help it, I put a couple of my car in too.
aww come on Dadillac! I think that picture you posted looks slick! maybe not with red, but with the black its nice!
Now that I'm looking at the picture that Dadillac put on again, it looks like it's a Barritz, even though it's not an Eldo. Notice the chrome that comes over the top of the roof, down the back window, under the windows and down the front fenders. I like that. Before I bought my 99 SLS, I was looking at a Barritz. I think that the extra chrome makes it look real sharp.
Hello...

Here's another extreme example...

Gotta love it...or hate it!

Sweet mother of Jesus, for the sake of all that is holy, please make it go away before I'm forced to gouge out my eyes with a screwdriver! :eye: :eye:
I guess I'm one that loves it. Come on, how many of those do you see going around town. That's a rare car indeed. I'm sure that there's others out there that would think it looks good. It deffinetly different.
