I have a couple questions. Does anyone know what the cost is to do a oil pan gasket? Is it really 10 hr to do this job?

Also does anyone know what the labor is on changing a torque converter?

If someone told me it were 10 hours, I wouldn't argue. The main culprit is the exhaust crossover. I don't know if it'd be a full 10 hour job, or what the book rate is, but it's certainly not as easy as removing the perimeter bolts and dropping the pan.

Pan And/Or Gasket, Oil - Replace
OPERATION NUMBER: J1000
LABOR TIME: 4.5 +.7 + .3 + .2 = 5.7 X 1.5 = 8.55 Hrs
I think the trans must be removed to do a pan gasket
.
.
Converter Assembly, Transmission/Transaxle - Replace
OPERATION NUMBER: K7020
LABOR TIME: 4.3 + .7 + .3 +.1 = 5.4 X 1.5 = 8.1 hrs

Does the trans have to be separated from the engine for the pan gasket to get done?

OK so if the oil pan gasket is really whats leaking and I opt to have it done that's definitely the time to do the TC. Yayyyyy I knew I would have another opportunity.

Thanks guys

Why are the labor hours multiplied by 1.5? Contingency? Accounts for broken fasteners and the like?
GM warranty time is light. If you get a Motors Manual with a Labor time guide you will find Factory time and book time. The book time is a suggested time the Customer should pay. This Customer pay time is about 1 1/2 times the Factory Warranty time.
A lot of independent shops have trouble making time on book time. Just think GM gives up less a lot less.
Example:
Crossover reseal warranty time is 3.5 hrs.
We charge about 5.0 hrs.
Another Cadillac Dealership in town charges 8.0 hrs for the same reseal

GM also does not pay the same labor rate.
A dealership is like a Franchise. We get screwed
