Nik,

I know of one in Phoenixville. Only about an hour from you. Phoenix Performance, Inc. They are highly recommended and have actually raced a couple of V's. I stopped and talked to the owner about tuning my old 06 but I traded it in not long later.

Joe Aquilante is the guy to talk to, he is the owner and has a very impressive record and backround. He is currently racing the Pontiac Solstice because the V got too expensive.

Let me know if you ever head down there, I'm only a few minutes away and we could meet for lunch or something.

I don't know if you want to travel out to Jersey but there are a few respectable shops. CARTEK is in Garwood and TTP is in Clifton. Both great shops and great tuners.
It should not be too bad a ride up to north Jersey. The guys at TT Performance (TTP) are awesome. They live and breath GM performance and clearly know what they are doing. One of the guys at the shop has an 05 V that dynoed at about 520 rwhp HP (403, all motor) while I was there one day.

Oh, I see. I didn't really mean currently, though. I just thought that they were initially more heavily involved in imports. Or maybe it was just one of their tuners that had most of his experience in the import market. Eh, ah duhn kno.

No not at all. TTP started out with two guys: George and Matt who worked out of George's garage in Old Tappan, NJ. They have always been f-body guys, and quickly expanded to cover all vehicles with LS-series motors, as well as LT1/LT4 motors. Matt always dealt with the customers and George did the installs. George ended up getting into a different business and Matt moved TTP to Clifton where he has a couple of guys. They do excellent work and always get excellent prices on parts as a vendor as well.

Cool. Yeah, they were actually recommended to me by someone in my area. So there's TTP, Cartek, Vettedoctors, and, of course, there's Stealth, hmmm... Such a nice schmattering of tuning nuts. How about Formato, doesn't he travel?

I've actually had experience with TTP, Cartek, and Vette Doctors, so I'll just give you a quick run down of how I feel about each...

TTP-Matt is a great guy. Always works with you on prices and is an excellent tuner. Puts down great numbers, but kind of odd that they don't publicly release their Equalizer cam specs. I bought my Moser 12 bolt and Kooks headers for my Trans Am from them. Always an easy transaction and the guys there are as helpful as can be.

Cartek-Dave runs the place and is one of the nicest guys in the industry. They also probably have the best name and reputation out of any of the shops we're talking about. They have been doing this forever and know their sh!t. Julio, their tuner, is among the best LS-series tuners in the country. They have a separate room and one guy (I forget his name) who builds all the motors. They really are classy guys and everyone there is an expert in what they do. One guy builds engines, Julio tunes, Dave walks around and helps everybody out (he's an expert in everything) and then there are two excellent mechanics who do all the installs and fabbing and so forth. I had them install some things for me and Julio tuned my Trans Am.

Vette Doctors-Carmen is an interesting guy. He seems real cold and curt at first, but you just need to warm up to him. The shop has a great reputation and Carmen is an excellent tuner. I didn't have a great experience with him, but I won't go into it because they really are a good shop. They're smaller and not as well known, but people in the Long Island area swear by them.

Joe at Phoenix Performance did the tune on our CTS-V race car and we couldn't be happier with the results.
You guys were at the NASA event at the end of February at VIR weren't you? I was there in an HPDE, but didn't have time to swing buy your garage to oggle your car.
