Im glad you're happy Derek! Your car really did a 180 with the tune! Some cars wake up more than others, and yours was one of those that really woke up!!
I've been tuning Since 2002, and started tuning LSx based vehicles in 2004. I've also tuned HUGE cam LSx vehicles, as well as F/I LSxs.. What can I say, Its fun, and a good feeling to feel the extra hp that is unleashed after fine tuning.
Since Derek, and I basically have the same engine mods, I pretty much rolled my tune, into his pcm. After that, I made AFR, and timing table adjustments. Every car is totally different, so it is good to always go with a custom tune. Handhelds are okay, if you don't plan on getting the most out of your vehicle, and don't plan on getting the best ET at the drags. I've seen some tuning perameters that have been done with a few handhelds, and I must say, some handheld tunes can be down right dangerous. That is why I don't reccommend them.
Anyway, I set Dereks LS6 V's AFR to a nice 12.8 that is pretty much almost flat from 4800 on up, revised his timing tables, killed TQ managment, fixed the delayed throttle that V's experience, changed his fans settings so that it runs a lot cooler in this AZ heat, bumped his rev limiter from 6600rpms, to 6750rpms so that it isn't as easy to hit the limiter during a nail biting race, also got rid of his CAGS, power enrichment comes on a lil earlier, and targeted AFR comes on almost instantly for instant power response, I also tuned his idle for smoother idling, and also leaned out his cruising speeds a little for better mpg, (probably worth 1-2 mpg at highway speeds), and also changed his 5th gear limiter to 7000rpms incase he decides to go faster than 163mph.
Derek is a down to earth cool guy, so Im hooking you up anytime you get a new mod brotha!
