Tuned the ATSV yesterday in stock form, results inside

I spent the entire day on the dyno yesterday learning and testing the operating system on the new ATSV, it took some time to fully understand everything but I have a pretty good handle on it now. I was quite impressed with the results especially being over 90 degrees yesterday, I dyno'd the car before touching it for a new base line because it was so hot and the power went down a little bit because of the heat which was to be expected. To be honest, I think I could have even kept going but I wanted to leave it conservative with the stock cats in place, once we remove those with our racing down pipes I will really turn it up. Again, this car is 100% stock, the only thing I did was tune it.

Here are the final dyno graph results:

I broke in my M3 hard for my 1200 miles break in. It was fine around 5,300 miles when I traded it in for an ATS-V. I will do the same with the ATS-V.

When driven hard, I don't mean WOT at every stoplight. I will randomly drive it hard for a minute or two and then ease up and do the same here and there.

If the car hits it's calculated power output based on driver input, then it will not command anymore boost and will actually close the throttle blade to pull back power to prevent it from making more than what GM has programed in the ECM. If you log these cars you can see all this happen on the stock tune.

Tuning is something that takes time to learn and you will make mistakes along the way...usually not in a way that will cost you an engine if it's not forced induction but it will be expensive for software and unless you are blessed with a good butt dyno then expensive dyno time as well. Boosted engines are a different ball game as mistakes can be game over for the motor...Have it tuned by a tuner with experience with forced induction and has a load bearing dyno for best results.

Mike,
So what is the mod list on the car now and what dyno numbers are you seeing?
Thanks

NEP intakes, NEP down pipes, NEP X-pipe delete kit, NEP tune. I think last time it was on the dyno was 609 rwtq and 574 rwhp. I have a set of one step colder spark plugs and methanol injection to install, just having a hard time getting it scheduled into my shop because we are so busy. No handheld device, sorry.

Sweet, thanks Mike!

thanks Mike,
I do have long experience in tuning and hopefully I no what table not to touch :yup:
I am in Dubai so I don't trust any one yet (that way I do my own programming, and I did so many of my cars and friends along the years but no turbo)

waiting for my break-in to start learning.

thanks again.

Mike,
I've been wondering if you think an auto will be able to run a 10sec ET with your intake, tune, meth and DRs with no exhaust mods? Assuming track and weather is good.

Based on my experience, you should not run meth with cats. I would recommend against it, and I would refuse the tune for it.
Yeah, I figured that would be the issue. Ok thanks!

I know from previous threads he's done some tuning for a customer who had some on track issues. Hopefully we can get a solid alternative tune offered without needing tons of street tuning time. I might hit the drag strip twice with this car the whole time I have it, the road course is what gets me going. I can't wait to see how it performs compared to the Z51 C7 I just came out of. Should be close stock but way better tuned, which is a win win in my book for what the car offers as a complete package.

Still here...loving the 'tune only' set up after removing the catless DP's and re-installing the stock DP's/cats. Sound is MUCH better for now. I'll leave it like this until I do a one-off custom 3" exhaust with high-flo cats, actual mufflers for a nice deep, non-raspy, tuned sound and re-installing the New Era Performance DP's.

Waiting to see what the aftermarket comes to the table with in the fuel delivery dept. Might be wishful thinking but for now I'm pretty happy with the 16-18 lbs (500ish)rwhp. Hope to make some additional passes at my home town track (Royal Purple Raceway) in a few weeks when the weather gets right.
