Does anyone know whether a TSB is still applicable if the vehicle has gone out of warranty (on time, not mileage)? Also if dealer has "searched" for vibration, to no avail, several times while still under warranty? They first said tires (I replaced tires, to no avail!) They then replaced both rear hubs - no avail, and lastly checked "clocking" of drive shaft - it was properly "set" At that point, they felt it was "normal" vibration (hint - it only vibrates at 75mph in 6th gear!! Any advice appreciated!:bouncy:

A TSB is not directly related to the warranty. However, if the condition existed while you were under warranty, and the dealer acknowledged that it existed then (as opposed labeling it "customer concern not duplicated") you should have a legitimate case for a warranty fix.

When it comes to "vibrations" the Service Manual contains no less than 50 pages of troubelshooting procedures for that. However, a vibration that occurs exclusively in 6th gear at 75 mph is the established signature of a transmission problem.

TSBs and warranty have little do do with each other and the existence of a TSB is no indication that a repair of any type "should be covered".
TSBs are informational documents to aid us in finding the quickest route to a problem, not an admission of failure on behalf of the manufacturer as some people think they are.
The existence of a TSB does not mean it applies to your car either. It just means some of them do it, and some of them don't. As far as GM is concerned they give us the information to compare to symptoms on the car, if they match then the TSB applies, if they don't then they just don't. The condition must be verified and if it exists AND the car is still under warranty, of course it will be a covered repair.

That being said, it is still up to the guy driving the car. If he isn't used to your model or if he can't get it to act up or thinks it is normal, then nothing will be done. If he gets the car to act up and compares it to any published document and matches the symptoms then it would seem prudent to do whatever it took to address the issue.
As a lot of these fall out of warranty you will be responsible to pay for the repairs, but if it is still covered it should be fixed.

I had your same problem, the dealer re-indexed my driveshaft under warranty and the problem was completely fixed.

the other posts got me fired up so i searched for the 6th gear tsb and got this..

How hard is it to reindex the driveshaft, and is that something you all sugest I try before addressing the 6th gear vibe (again) with the dealer? If this (alone) worked for tweeter im willing to try that first.. I was not present for the test drive last time, but im taking them for a spin on the next trip.. It is so ridiculously evident I dont know how they missed it except for the comment: ("we cant go over the speed limit to test your assumption")

also, since im still under gmpp, I've decided to wait on installing my cs mounts until I get this issue resolved. I want to keep the V long term...
Im afraid if gm has to eat a new trans, the mounts will be an easy 'out' for them. While some dealers may not care, my dealer is 1 mile from my house and I'd rather not drive cross county if I dont have to.

It is three bolts that hold the front of the drive shaft to the transmission. You just unbolt them and move the coupler over one bolt hole. Then if that doesn't work you do it again one more over. Not hard and it can't hurt to try this first.

Rubber coupler.

And where it bolts to the trans.

I've got an 05 V with 26k on the ODO. Had the same problem you report, vibration only in 6th gear at 75+ MPH. I started a thread yesterday about my experience with Cadillac Customer Care and the Tech Support Group. Bottom line, it was the trans and they are splitting the replacement cost with me 50/50. (BTW, I am the third owner and no longer under warranty.) If it ends up being your trans, hopefully you can get something similar...saved me about $2k. Good luck!
