I know this a little odd...but I plan on carrying a lot of car-care products , First Aid kit , road flares , emergency blankets etc. Wanting to be organized and secure while whipping around in the V. What have you guys done in terms of Boxes , Trunks , Containers mounted in the Trunk?

I did a quick ebay/amazon search and got mostly crap. Anyone done anything cool in this regard?

I put my stuff in the spare tire well. Yeah it's a hassle to get to but it is secure. But I am contemplating getting a spare tire and jack kit. So then where do I put that stuff?

I don't think it's odd at all. I've been searching for the same thing. Hard to find something that is functional. I actually have a spare and jack, etc. in the spare tire well so that's out. You can store a few small things inside the tire area with the tire in place but not much.

I have a collapsible trunk organizer that is a GM Accessory part, 12498559. Funnily enough, the best pictures I can find of the thing are on an Acura website - http://acurazine.com/forums/third-generation-tl-2004-2008-93/trunk-storage-organizer-749584/#post11434222. It only takes maybe 15 or 20 seconds to open it up or close it down. When everything is folded flat it's probably about 1.5" thick, and I'd say it weighs 5-10#. As I recall it came with some straps and little screw-down attachment points, but I didn't want to install those, so I put some Velcro pads (the hard side) on the corners so it would stick to the trunk mat.

It's pretty nice, but I wish there was a smaller version. It's too long to fit back between the rear shock towers, and it's too long to turn it sideways in the trunk. Basically, it has to sit right at the trunk opening, so its utility is limited in that respect.

Edit: Just searched on Amazon for the GM part and found it for ~$80 (list price is $125). The ad is stupid, though, in that it doesn't show the thing open! :nono: Then I noticed one of the "related ads" is the Highland 1980000 Space Master Vehicle Cargo Organizer - same thing, just without the GM logo on it, and only $58 w/free Prime shipping! Gotta love it!

I've come up with a few options (won't work for me...but maybe you?) since my initial post :

Amazon.com: Cadillac GM Cadillac Logo Cargo Organizer - 20992615: Automotive - A Cadillac branded trunk for $ 120.00

http://www.pro-gard.com/product/chev...unk-organizer/ - Now this thing is trick ! Don't see one for specifically for the V .... and I'm using a full size spare anyway.

And there's AAIIC's suggestion as well.

I think I'm going with a plastic box. I'll measure the distance between the tie-off knobs located on the trunk floor. I believe these have a threaded stud under the plastic knob. I'll punch a hole(s) in the bottom of the box and set the box over those studs , nut and washer it to secure to floor.

I'll post up pics when done...

No pic to share, but was thinking about picking this trunk mat up. Anyone have it? Also, anyone have part numbers for the carpet hold downs? The awesome plastic threads are pretty stripped out on mine. I suppose there enough meat to maybe put a steel helicoil in, anyone tried it?

Trunk mat:

I would like some sort of organizer though. By the time I get home from grocery shopping, not a single item remains inside a bag. It's not my fault. The car was asking for it.

I wanted that trunk mat (to match floor mats) but the price drove me off. It's damn nice though....

Grocery store is walking distance for me , but extra oil , serp belt spare , car care products , paper towels , cloth rags , basic tools , First Aid kit , road flares , can of Quick-Air , blanket etc. have to be secured somehow.

BTW TST_Brah ..... you don't happen to be the Raven V1 I see blasting through the Traffic Circle and up Lakewood Blvd most evenings are you ?

I helicoiled all mine - 6mm-1.0. Works great, and seemed to me to be much more reasonable than spending $100+ on the aluminum knobs someone was selling.

I'm going to helicoil mine. I do like the aluminum ones but too spendy for me. Money can be spent elsewhere on going faster or stopping quicker....

Definitely not me haha! I'm up in the SCV, and normally on the bike in the afternoon. Now that school's out and I don't have to drop the kid off, I'll be in the car less than I am already.
