I have now noticed that the trunk will open without my, or my wife's, knowingly opening the trunk. I know that it could be possible that when this happens, that we may have inadvertently hit the fob's trunk button. But to tell you the truth, I don't think so. Anyone else have this happen to them?

Had it happen to me a few times, was due to accidentally pushing button on fob while it was in my pocket. Coulda been keys pressing on it or other stuff in my pocket but now I just keep phone in one pocket and keys in other and haven't had problem since...

I can't recall on the 2013s, but do they require the button to be held or just pressed. I thought mine just need to be pushed? The 2014 fob I have now has to be pressed and held. If the 13s don't work that way I wonder if a 14 fob could be used instead and if a dealership would be willing to swap fobs out.

Haven't had a problem here either since the new calibration.
Here is more info on it.
Unwanted Trunk Opening.
Owners of some 2014 Impala models and 2013 ATS models (applies to ATS models built prior to April 8, 2013 only)
may experience the trunk opening without having requested the trunk to open.
The unwanted trunk opening may be due to the trunk release button on the Remote Keyless Entry transmitter (key fob) requiring a quick button press (only 0.2 seconds is required) to open the trunk.
As a result, the trunk may be opening when the key fob button is inadvertently pressed while in a pocket or purse.
If this condition is present and the owner would like to increase the amount of time required when pressing the key fob trunk release button,
contact the Techline Customer Support Center (TCSC: 1-800-828-6860, English, or 1-800-503-3222, French) for a VCI number to install a new BCM calibration.
The new calibration will extend the required minimum time for a trunk release button press on the key fob to one second.

Once programmed, inform the customer about the new operation of the key fob. It will be necessary to press and hold the trunk release button for one second before the trunk will open.

Good information, thanks.
