Troubleshooting the passive keyless entry system.

Tonight I spent some time creating a diagnostic testing matrix for troubleshooting passive keyless entry problems. The chart below may help you to determine what your problem is based on findings when you pull the door handle when the car is in a locked and unlocked state. These checks were conducted on a fully operational vehicle. The tests were performed using the FRONT PASSENGER door, but I see no reason why the same would not apply to the driver's door (with the exception of connector references and wire colours). I also don't see why this will not apply across the entire model year range of 2005-11.

I know there has been a lot of discussion as to whether a fault is the microswitches in the door handle, the antenna in the door handle or a wiring problem. This table may assist in narrowing your fault. I've included a picture and a link to the picture which may make it easier to view one in large enough text it is readable. I don't know of any other method I can use to make this available.

i can't read the image . the website of the link is not found
Hello,

Great chart! According to the matrix it tells me that SW-1 is faulty. I've tested the switch at the 6-pin handle connector and it seems to be working fine. I'm not sure which connector is X1 on the PDM (which I assume is the big black box bottom-center of the door). I don't have any wiring diagrams obviously. Would appreciate any help on where to look next or what the common failure points are.

Thanks!
Awesome, if I ever get the time, I'm going to check into my driver's door problems. Thanks so much for all your effort! In my case, I know there's at least 2 separate and repeating malfunctions, so it's going to be interesting, and possible very time consuming.

The antenna is not available as a separate part but is built into the handle. Spare parts for handles and locks are becoming scarce as production ceased years ago. Good luck.

Okay, do you have the part number for handle? I can only find numbers for the one without antenna?

Look at www.GMpartsdirect.com
But i cant find part number for the handel with antenna there.
It only shows "Sedan, std range remote. Wagon, without passive entry. " part number 25779678 or 25779679.

Then it's off to the salvage yard for you. Troublesome parts have been sold out over the years and are no longer available.
