Ok guys forgive me if this has been asked before but this problem just happened and I ahve not even had time to start trouble shooting. Anyway today we got dump with lots of rain and on my way to work I had the A/C running. When I got to work i noticed my Charge light come on and my steering would stiffin up, almost like my power steer would give out. Once I turned the A/C off the light goes off and my steering returns. I did this several times and it happens ever time now so would anyone have a clue as to what is going on? Why is this happening and what should I look for?:thepan:

The rain could have gotten the belt wet and caused some slipping, but more than likely its your a/c compressor starting to seize up.You stated everything went back to normal when the a/c was off so I would start with the compressor.I'm not sure of the belt configuration on your car but if it's a serpentine belt a seized compressor will usually burn up the belt until it breaks leaving you stranded.

I was thinking the same thing that the belt got wet and the other components would not trun with the belt wet but if the compressor is going out or seized up then only the A/C would stop working right? I mean eventually the belt would break but the other components would work or at least I would think so?

Anyway I am just amazed no one else gave there opinions on this. Was this just a stupid question or what?

Thanks for you input mramazingman.
