What exactly does this mean? Speed sensor Circuit intemittent

I just picked up a 98 Deville and when I plugged in my OBD reader, it pulled this code.

Car runs fine.

The VSS is the easy one, vs the input speed sensor. Pull the right wheel and look in to the engine compartment through the wheel well. The VSS is mounted on top of the transmission output shaft.

BTW, no need to use a code reader. Simultaneously press & hold the OFF & WARMER buttons. The DTC's will be displayed. After they are displayed HI FAN = YES and LOW FAN = NO to answer the prompts.

OK, so now that I know where it is, what is the deal with "intermittent"?

It sometimes is not functioning?

What exactly does this sensor do?

Wouldn't the previous owner have some kind of drivabilty issue?

I have not picked the car up yet, so I can't say what the issue is.

Intermittent might just be a loose or dirty connection. I am not positive, but I believe the VSS tells the PCM what the vehicle speed is. That information would obviously be used for shifting, speedometer, speed limiter, probably T/C and ABS as well.

I also have this problem, the entire car is actually freaking out electrically because of it. How do i determine that the cable is good? Where does it go?
