Transmission lines reconnect at radiator cooler

Well, I had to replace the radiator and discovered that the 2 transmission lines that connect at the bottom are NEXT to impossible to connect since the trans-cooler inside the radiator MOVES. Yes, I've exchanged 3 and they all wiggle, just enough so I can't get my lines on.

I've read that the trans fittings on the radiator can leak causing transmission failure so I went with the external cooler route as many already have.

Here's my new dilemma.....For those that have converted to a trans cooler, how did you connect the stock/factory trans lines to the external cooler? Did you find an adapter? What thread are those lines...I know their 3/8 but can't find them. The external cooler just uses a standard barbed end so you can use a regular oil hose and clamps.

Any and all help is appreciated as this thing has been sitting in my garage because of 2 fittings!!

You can cut the metal line and then use AN fittings from the stock line to cooler. I would also suggest getting AN fittings for the cooler also.

You just need to find out the thread size on the cooler. You can either go with -6 or -8 hose if using braided stainless steel or using rubber hose like this:

If I'm looking at the pic correctly, the screw in fittings were removed from the radiator (?) These are normally left in the radiator, and the lines are disconnected from those fittings. You may be able to slip the aftermarket hose over the ends of the lines after the screw fitting is removed. See the 6:01 time point in the following vid for removal of the lines from the fittings.
