I have a 95 Seville STS w/ about 118K on it. Out of the blue today, I got a service engine light and had the following issue:
At around 35-40 mph, the automatic transmission doesn't seem to shift into 3rd and feels like I'm driving in neutral or 2nd gear at higher speeds. I know these GM transmissions are very good and reliable and the fluid was replaced 6 months ago, so this problem has me perplexed. Any ideas?

Shift solenoids probably went bad. It is QUITE common on these cars, nearly 100% in pre 96 trannies. just get them changed. Probably $200 at the dealer, or $40 for yourself.

And don't let anyone tell you that you need a new or rebuilt trans (as will likely be the case).
