1984 seville .(401 v8). Took it for ride today and stayed in first gear. All i have is back up and first gear. Full of oil and looks clean. 150 k on the tranny.

Ideas tia.:crying:

Did you try manually shifting it through 1-2-D, or starting out with the shifter in 2? You might get lucky and find it's a failed vacuum modulator.

Hello, Yeh I did that and stayed in first gear, Whats the main reason ? is it low pump pressure or just wore out ? tia

Honestly, 150k is pretty much the lifespan, but they don't usually fail suddenly. If you haven't noticed any revs between shifts, slow drops into gear, burnt or leaking fluid, it may be the vacuum modulator has failed.

I did notice on holidays there was a few times shifting was slow. All I see is a cable from tb to the tranny, no vac hoses. No it was slipping or thumping when slowing down,oil is clean. thanks Hummmmmmm.

Cable looks like its working good,I guess I have to inside and look at the cable deal.Maybe something sticking in that area.
