So I take it that no one knows what auto tranny is behind the 4.1? I can't tell what it is since I'm new to GM products

Thanks for the info!!!! That list sure makes it much easier too :DI heard that the TH400 is a really good tranny. Is that true? Does it compare to the C4 or C6 in strenght?

I think the THM440 is what they had in the FWD Fleetwoods starting in 85

The 440 is a FWD tranny.
Info here.

The Turbo 400 is a good trans. It's what GM put behind most (if not all) big block motors. It does eat a few horsepower but it's worth it for the durability. That's what I'm putting behind my 500 in the truck.
I guess it would be similar to Fords C6.

RWD THM200-4R
FWD THM440-T4

The Olds 307 THM200-4R is a worthy swap if yours dies. It is meant for a beefier engine. (anyone else laughing yet??)

THM 200-4R. Its a 4 speed tranny.
