On the way home tonight encountered some serious weather in north Texas. Saw the "traction control engaged" message three times. How does it work? What is monitored and what does the computer do? Shut off injectors? Engage the braking system? Or???

Uses the abs breaking system motor and applies brake pressure to the spinning wheel that is loosing traction, sensor picks up wheel spin rotation higher than other wheels. So as to put power to the wheel that is still sticking to the ground
If differential has a posi traction this would be the same just using braking calipers to stop differential action instead..
Just a fancy individual wheel brake mechanism.
It can also force transmission into a higher gear say start out in 3rd to remove the torque from motor to wheels.

:yeah: If the ABS don't stop the wheel spin it starts dropping injectors.
