Hello,
I have a 1996 Deville that I just installed a remote starter on. After the install, the check engine light and the traction control light came on. The check engine light went away but the traction control light remains on. No other light is on. I have not checked for codes, will do that this afternoon. Anyone knows where this light is generated from? Thanks in advance, Kim

OK, I am back, I am at work so I go to the car on break and pull the codes. Here goes: Current codes are PC1652, TC0072, TCoo73 and History is TC0077. I did a little Googling and found the TC codes are traction control and a serial data link fault, and possibly a ignition switch. Makes sense as my main remote starter connections were the big wires next to the ignition switch. I cleared all codes and the light is out. (for now) We will see on the drive back home. Hopefully all is well, if not will have to go check connections under the steering column. Any other thoughts? Thanks, Kim

Codes are meaningless without their definitions. Help us help you and always post the code definitions along with the codes. See the DTC Sticky at the top of the forum page. Being a '96 (transition year from OBDI to OBDII) you may have both so any codes not found in the OBDII link will be in the OBDI link.

Thanks again Ranger, You are the greatest!! I never looked at the OBD I codes, but now that you said 96 is the transition year and could have both, I looked and sure enough the abs/traction control codes are there. Again, Thanks, and next time I will check both and give the definition. Kim
