I should have been concerned when they ordered the same size tire for all four wheels. After that was sorted out I got the rubber and the alignment and drove away a bit poorer, but happy.

Now, a month later and it's getting hotter, so I figured I'd go over the car, checkk fluids and stuff and tune in the tire inflations back to factory spec. And that's when after a bit of head scratching (a very little bit) I discovered that the right front TPM is reporting to the left on-screen indicator and the left front TPM is reporting to the right on-screen indicator.

I believe that this is addressable from the driver's seat, but I don't remember how to do it. Can someone please spare me the research and point me in the right (or left) direction? Thanks in advance.

You'll need a TPMS trigger (which you didn't say you had, so I'm mentioning it). The one I have is overkill and it's called a VT-15, I think. Anywho, with the engine running or in service mode (with your foot off the brake hold the Start button for 10 seconds and the car will fully start up all systems except for the engine), switch to the tire pressure screen in the DIC (gauge cluster screen) and hold in the select button until your horn beeps. Then hold the trigger tool near the inflation tube of the front driver's side wheel (mine actually triggers better through the tire treads than right next to it through the rim) until your horn beeps. Repeat at the front passenger, then rear passenger, then rear driver. On the last one, the horn will beep twice and you're done.

I bought the official EL-50448 TPMS tool from the supplier to GM back in 2008 when I bought my CTS but now you can pick up a Chinese clone of one on Amazon for around $14 which is probably a fifth or less of what I paid. And I am sure mine also originated in China but at that time the only choice was the official GM supplier.

If you rotate your own tires it is worth having HOWEVER most of the newer cars don't need a relearn tool (i.e. my 2016 Corvette and 2018 GMC Denali automatically learn without prompting from a tool) so depending upon how long you plan to keep your ATS it may not be worth fooling with.

The signal from the TPMS sensors is pretty weak so you can't do the relearn if there is something else on the same frequency nearby. Once I installed a new garage door opener I have to drive my ATS down the driveway after switching between summer and winter all season tires because the garage door opener interprets the TPMS tool as an attempt to communicate with it and its challenge reply is considerably stronger than the TPMS sensors which "de-senses" the TPMS receiver in the ATS and prevents pairing.

I hate that, every time I get my tires replaced or even rotated they forget to do that step even if I remind them.

Thanks for the info.rsingle. You're right about Amazon. There is a glut of tools in the 15 dollar price range. I'll probably pick one up because I'm planning on keeping this car for a while.

I bought the re-learn tool because I, too, was tired (pun intended) of the dealer forgetting to relearn after a rotation. PS: I refuse to go to any dealer anymore for service. I use a local, highly qualified and recommended mechanic.
I'm done with the dealer too. My car is out of warranty now so I'll just go to a place that only does oil changes to get the oil changed. Oh, that reminds me, the last time I went to the dealer they somehow managed to scratch the hell out of the paint on the roof. Don't know if it was the car wash or that magnet thing they put on top but the damage is already done now. The less someone other than me touches my car the nicer it stays.

I don't give a $#@! about tire rotation. I'll buy tires if they wear out, I always seem to have to buy 4 at a time anyway.

I went thru this BS when I swapped 18's for 17's. I bought a VT15 for my ATS and 08 Corvette.

But, my POS Scat Pack auto senses the change and updates within about 1/2 mile of driving.

OBTW - I lost a rear tire (285x35/19) off the Corvette due to a tire rotation and the dealer did not due the update and I was to stupid to figure it out.
