On my 2004 Deville the engine check light occasionally comes on. The fault code coming up is PO741 something about a torque converter solenoid problem which is either stuck or off. What do I do to fix this fault or do I need to worry about it.
Many members go for years without fixing this because it is expensive (~$1,500 at a good indie shop, ~$2,500 at a dealer) because the transmission has to come out. Only penalty for not fixing is slightly reduced highway mileage, maybe 1 mpg. But if you have to pass emission tests where you live, you'll have to get it fixed, as it is considered an emissions failure.
You say it only comes on occasionally. It will probably get worse with time. Also the test for it only runs when you go over 41 mph.
I need to know what the torque is for the intake manifold, we are changing the starter as we speak and my buddy wasnt sure what the torque was to put all this back on.
I have the Haynes book on the way but im trying to get my baby started ASAP
Thanks in advance folks. :cool2:
Hey, I have an unusual question/scenario. My dad around 10pm last night told me to come outside and thought he heard my car running. Went outside, and at that moment it wasn’t running. He thought for sure my car was running, so I assumed it was a neighbor, but he kept swearing he heard my car...
The rear subframe in my DeVille is rusted up pretty bad. I procured a used part from a yard that is just the bare-bones frame, but for the life of me cannot find replacement bushings.
I'm hardly car savvy, and don't know if I just don't know how to word my searches correctly or if the parts in...
