the reason people go with 8000K is for the color. the lower the K the brighterMark,
I've been wanting to get an HID setup for my car for a while now. I just don't know what to get, there's so many options. Most people seem to go with the 8000k setup. I want mine to obv. look like an HID setup but want it to have the stock colors (which I believe is 4300k). Am I looking for 4500k or 5000k then? What confuses me is that people shy away from the 4500-5000k and they go with the 8000k, is there a specific reason or are they just going for color?
It's just one of those things for me that the deeper I look into it the more I can't make up my mind.
Correct. 4300-4500k (most OEM setups) have the brightest output. The reason people go with higher kelvins (or lower in the case of 3000k yellow HID fogs) is for a change in color to suit their preferred look. I, myself, have 8000k low beams for the nice deep blue look.the reason people go with 8000K is for the color. the lower the K the brighter![]()
GT,Is the correct bulb for the CTS (with standard factory halogen lights) Type 9006 (HB4)?
Is everything I need included? I ask because the "Noteworthy Features" section says to connect the included harness from the battery to the ballasts, but the "Kit Includes" section says that the harness to get power from the battery is optional.
Are the installation instructions available online somewhere, or is it really that simple that I shouldn't be worried? I'm not looking for a project that will take all day.
Also trying to decide between 6000 and 8000K. My 2003 CTS is blue if that makes any difference.
Thanks!

Thanks Mark.GT,
Where it says it takes battery power it is meant that it draws from the stock bulb socket where your old bulb plugs into. The harness is optional for primarily older cars with a weaker electrical system. Installing these is straightforward and it comes with instructions. I'm sure you are aware you must remove your bumper to install new bulbs (which takes 30 mins approximately as I helped Coma install his) but getting the HID setup plugged in takes about 5-10 mins tops. It is really simple and if you would like help throughout the process, I would be glad to give you our number to reach us for technical support.
As for color temperature, it is purely preference. The 6000k will yield a LITTLE more distance than an 8000k kit, although the 8000k does give you a more blueish color (reference the chart on the first post here). The 6000k is more of a diamond white with a slight blue tint.
Thanks!

GT,Thanks Mark.
No I wasn't aware I had to remove the bumper, but I was starting to suspect as much (looked at the FAQ just after posting). Doesn't look too bad, I'm willing to do that since the rest sounds like a breeze.
You didn't answer my question re. the bulb type for a CTS.
How much extra is shipping to Canada (J0P 1H0)?

Jjsocrazy,I would actually like to purchase a pair for my headlights. Also I would get it with the year warranty. Would the crystal white look good for my headlights since I have the 8000k for my fogs? Or should I get the same 8000k to match my fogs? Also is the crystal white purely white or hinted with a slight light blue? I only have the halogen and I would like to make them brighter.
Thanks!
