So it looks like Top Gear isn't on Discovery anymore?

Anyone know whats going on?

.....a quick web search seems to have mixed results.

Some have emails from Discovery saying its been cancelled.

While others have emails from Discovery saying it will be back in December once it been americanized some more (yikes)

and theres some folks who think it has something to do with the un-american views of the host jeremey clarkson, like this article he wrote recently:

Clarkson only knows being cradled to the grave like it is in Europe... (the U.S. is getting there, unfortunately)

Clarkson says he thinks of Ferrari as a scaled down version of God. How is the Ferrari 400 like that or the Enzo?

Top Gear is entertaining, but the way they treat american cars really isn't on. Not so long ago they were going to review a new Cadillac the followinfg week and said "I don't know why we're even going to bother, it's obviously going to be rubbish".
With that sort of attitude how are they ever going to give a fair review?

Years ago it was a proper consumer review programme, but now it's just a joke. Sadly Joe Public takes what they say as gospel instead of entertainment.

Being that you are from the UK as well... I cerainly can not argue with you on that, obviously not everyone over there thinks they are rubbish.

He may talk about how much he likes Europain cars, but I'm sure if that show was filmed here, the host would probably be talking about how much they don't like MG's, Rovers, and Renaults,...ect. It's only natural that the host like car's from his own country more than those form others. I mean, if I hosted that show, I'd would be bad mouting Ferrari and praising the Corvette every other day. It's just how it is.

There is a group of us who love american cars, I currently own 2, 1n 88 IROC which I bought as a weekend fun car for taking to the strip but I found that getting into a regular European car for the other 5 days a week was no fun, so I got the Cadillac.

I'll probably add a classic to that collection at some point.

Most people in the UK see american cars as having dreadful handling, a huge thirst for fuel, awful build quality and engines that are stupidly big.
Plus Clarkson dislikes americans and america so the cars stand no chance.

However, the huge character that an american car has means that many guys my age would love to own a Mustang or Camaro, be it new models or classics. Same goes for Chargers and Cudas etc.

There are loads of clubs in the UK for american car owners, along with some big shows in the summer, some that have thousands of cars on display.
I'm a amember of the American Auto Club International (www.accint.com) and it's through other members on there that I got to hear about how good the Seville STS is.
The guys on there love american cars.

When I bought the IROC my friends all thought I was mad, but after they hear it and see what it can do they soon stopped!
Now they're wondering why on earth I would buy a big old barge of a Cadillac. When they ride in it they'll soon understand. But sadly that's what it takes over here to wake people up, actual experience of the cars as opposed to magazine reviews.

But the mainstream and motoring press always give the cars a hard time.
On Top Gear they tested the C6 vette and it had EXACTLY the same time around the track as some new Ferrari with the handling pack. Yet costs a third as much. They don't mention that but it's up there on the board in the studio.

Here's 2 reviews of the same car (the RHD Seville STS that was briefly sold over here)

Good:

Bad:
Extract from a bad review by UK journo David Morgan (who admittedly, is generally bit anti-American on most topics):

"Tarnished American luxury badge Cadillac foist their awful cars on Britain, their tawdry offering, the STS, is a car for the man who knows the price of evetrything and the value of nothing. The front drive STS is an over-priced barge and is truly dreadful. It is badly assembled, cheaply trimmed and with all the handling poise and refinement of a cardboard box on pram wheels"
