Hello Everyone,

I finally made it to the track this past Friday to see if the Borla's helped any in lowering my ET. I ran once last fall and really enjoyed myself and couldn't wait to go again. I modified my exhaust after the last trip to the track and felt only a slight seat of the pants improvement in performance. The sound is awesome but just a bit loud for my taste. A resonator may be in the cards to tone down the exhaust without reducing performance to much.

I paid my ten bucks and filled out the info card. I had to borrow some shoe polish for the windows. We waited about fifteen minutes til they announced that we could begin time runs. I made a few solo runs and then began match runs with whoever pulled up next to you. The first few solo runs were in the 10.06 - 9.977 range. My first run against another car was a late model Monte Carlo. I don't know what he had under the hood, but I smoked him at the finish but he got me off the line. I had a 10.124 @ 76.626 vs his 11.023 @ 64.681.

 Boy, that felt good. I'm sure that my streak wont last as I line up against a modified Nova next. My reaction times are slow, but my ET gets better. I get smoked by the Nova 8.289 @ 83.466 for him while I get a 9.844 @ 77.184. It wasn't as close as it sounds. I saw tail lights the whole way. It was fun though.

A few more solo runs in the 9.8 to 9.9 range and I pull up next to another modified (Dodge Dart). I don't know whats under the hood, but he shook the ground with his burn out and at idle. I get blistered off the line, but my reaction time improves to a .251 vs his .214. At sixty feet he is a 1/2 second quicker and pulling away. He wins with a 8.205 @ 87.351 to my 9.872 @ 76.632.

Next runs looks like I might have a chance. Its a another Mopar with some mods and the guy parked next to me so I got a brief peak under the hood. I see an MSD ignition and some modified intake and some dress up stuff. He pulls the hood off for our run. I get the reaction time at .409 to his .579 but he has my at 60 feet and we run close for a while. He pulls away near the end and I'm excited to be so close. He gets the win with a 8.669 @ 81.134 to my 9.952 @ 76.701.

Next run is a modified late model Camaro that looks good. He has some mods and some sticker stuff. We line up and my reaction time is .297 to his .375. Were close at 60 feet with only .27 difference. He wins with a 9.770 @ 73.858 to my 10.063 @ 75.469. Damn, I should have had him.

I get blistered by a few more modified cars and a buddy that came to watch decides he wants to run his MB Kompressor with a 4 banger and supercharger with manual tranny. His first run is in the low 10's and we decide to line em up. I toast him the first run with a 9.934 @ 76.297 to his 11.244 @ 69.389. I'm feeling better, but we want to run a few more times.

Next run is a a bit closer with me getting the win with a 9.897 @ 76.578 to his 10.217 @ 71.753.

Next run is my best time of the night, but I lose.:( He get me off the line with a reaction time of .137 to my .523 and at 60 feet were dead even time wise. I run a 9.776 @ 77.030 to his 10.036 @ 72.551 and I lose.:banghead:

We have to wait about a half hour while the mop up the track where a guy blew a transmission line at the line and then drove down the track while he dumped his load down the track. The announcer said it was the battler of the luxury cars as we dropped the tops for the next two and final runs. I won the next two races with 9.94's and called it a night. We put the top back up for the drive home.

Not what I had hoped for but a good time had by all.

I will try to get some pictures up if I can get the file size reduced.

Best previous time was a 9.95 @ 76MPH. So I think the Borlas helped a bit. I disabled the Tractin control, but I will make some runs with it next time to see the difference.

Thanks! There isn't a 1/4 mile track close by so I have gone to the 1/8 mile track twice. Jadcock and have planned to meet in Bristol, Tennessee at Thunder Valley next month to run the 1/4 mile. I'm looking forward to it, and everyone is welcomed to join us. They have Tuesday and Thursday Night Street Fights starting in May and will run til Fall. I hope we see some CadillacForumS members there.

Watch it Wes, or I'll sic KC on you.

You don't need to drive all the way to Tennesse to get beat. Just challange on of the Grey Haired Grannies driving the DeVille home from church, and I'm sure she would be glad to teach you a lesson and give you one of those cute five finger waves instead of the one finger you are used too.

I may not be able to make Thunder Valley afterall. :( I'm moving to Fayetteville, NC. We close on the house on 1 May. I'll look for 1/4 mile tracks down there...not sure of any close. We're about an hour away from Lowes Motor Speedway, though! :)

I expect 1/4 times in the very high 14s to about 15 even. If I can make Bristol, I'll do it. I can't wait to run the car down the track a few times!

I'm looking at some time slips from last year at a 1/4 mi track. The 1/8 mi time was 9.9 @ 74.47 and 1/4mi 15.211 @93.12.
Also has 15.245 @ 93.44 & 15.306 @93.80.
The fastest was my last run although I thought I did the same thing ea. time. As I was leaving the track I noticed I had the A/C on.
Gonna increase tire pressure, lower fuel tank to a couple of gallons & turn off air and give it another try this summer. I'll post the times.

I have seen a few posts elsewhere of times in the 15's and high 14's. I am hoping for 14's, but I will have to wait a few weeks to find out. I would also like to see high 90's or would love to hit 100 mph, but again I just don't know. I will post my times when I run.

Any suggestions on how to squeeze a little time off the ET would be a plus if any members have some suggestions. Thanks for all the comments, even from you Wes.

Jason,

Let me know if you leave anything behind and need to come back to pick it up. Would love to have another Cadillac at Bristol. Perhaps Hot Rod Saint would like to go. He lives in Knoxville, and is closer to Bristol than me. Any others that would like to come, let me know and we will make plans to meet there. I would love to see some Big Block Caddy's there.

Jersey Girl lives in Nashville, and is only about an hour from Crossville if she would like to join me at the I-40 Dragway. I would be currious how her Caddy does on the 1/8 mile. As much as she cleans it, I'm sure that would shave some time of her ET. That car is slick as Owl Sh*t, and I'm sure the guy in the lane next to her would be distracted some.

Well, I took the Caddy to the track again since my last post here. Last Friday night I ran, but did not post results because of poor results. I ran last night(Tuesday) and had much improved times. Fridays best was a 9.80 and that was after several 10 second runs and a few 9.9's. Last night was much better after some air pressure adjustments from Fridays runs and believe it or not, putting the Tornado Air gizmo back in. I took out the Tornado out Friday just to see what happened, and my times stunk from previous runs.

Last night was a blast! I ran solo the first pass due to lack of cars running. They used a Pro Tree instead of the regular lights I have come to know. First pass was 9.587 @ 75.44mph. Wow, I must be seeing things. I couldn't have improved that much could I? I must have read the board wrong, so I go run again.

The second pass was against an older 5.0 Mustang and I ran 9.496 @ 78.9mph to his sick 10.626 @ 67.57mph. He turned off early so i think he may have missed a shift. I gave him another shot at me later and ran a 9.517 @ 78.874mph to his 9.953 @76.246mph. Our reaction times were about the same, but I got him by about two tenth's on the 60 foot mark. I never saw him til I turned off the track. The kid that gives out time sheets gave me the losers copy because he said " I feel sorry for the dude in the Mustang".
I got a good chuckle out of that one and took my time slip with a big grin.

Next run was against a 6000 pound Surburban. I smoked him good, but he ran a 10.875 @ 65.711mph to my 9.528 @ 78.647mph.

I did have another run against an older Camaro and he ran a 9.956 @76.066mph to my slow 9.783 @71.883mph. That was my slow run of the night, and I still won.

I made a few more solo passes with average times of 9.5's and called it a night. My last run I talked my wife into riding along, and she kinda enjoyed it. She said she might make a pass herself next week.

The highlight of the night was a comment my wife overheard that a guy thought the Allante was a Buick GN with a Turbo. he had never seen an Allante and the thought of a fast caddy blew his mind. He asked me what I had in it, and was shocked to find it was stock. The owner of the track came over and introduced himself and told me he has a Caddy. He said he has seen me run a few times and decided to take his STS down the track, and ran a 9.96. I am looking forward to my next trip and will keep y'all posted on my results.

allante north,

next time you run,
make sure the A/C is OFF,
coolant not too thick, is it? some run pure coolant (foolish) .. that also eats power off the pump,
connect the traction control,
disconnect the alternator,
disable DIC diagnostics,
drop the fuel to 3 gal, add a little "gas additive",
....

AND pump tires for best traction, then take a couple of gas heaters and get the front threads HOT, or spin them on teflon blocks (but disconnect traction control) .. then reconnect the wire .. hot rubber bites good .. cold rubber is lousy. there IS a good reason why the rails do burnouts BEFORE they launch them.

i assume there is no NOS on her?

but then, you knew all that ..

then, let her rip!!

Low 14's is a pipedream unless some big bucks are spent. You imply your Leadslead is already there. Please let us know so we can all praise your name.:worship:

I'll belive it when you show me some timeslips:rolleyes:
