i love my ext and get nothing but compliments every day. women's eyes light up and other truckers envy. theres nothing like walking through a parking lot toward your escalade as it stands tall over just about every other vehicle in sight, the mesmerizing visual chemistry of the beautiful white diamond paint being kissed gently by the florida sun. nothin like it. there is nothing bad to say about escalades, if you can afford one. naturally, those who cannot afford one or whose wives prevent them from buying one, will hate. "people hate when your better than them. if they aint hatin', start worryin' then." -T.I. (one of those rappers who make that distasteful music)

I get a kick out of people who think that an Escalade is just a Tahoe with a Cadillac emblem on it. Yes, they have the same frame, but that is the only thing that is the same with them. Every single thing on an Escalade is upgraded. I looked at getting a Tahoe that was upgraded as much as you possibly could and it still couldn't compare to a base model of an Escalade. You do pay for the emblem, but you also get a hell of a lot more with it.

i love my ext! had a avalanche before the ext and there is no comparison, the ext has a better ride, better seats, quieter, more power, heavy duty trans with cooler, awd vs 4wd,electronic shocks and load leveling, not to mention very little black plastic to treat. the ext fits my vehicle needs perfectly-90% of the time i want a nice quiet comfortable luxury ride, but 10% of the time i need to tow something, move something, haul something, pickup building materials for that home project, get thru some nasty michigan winter weather and a bunch of other things i could mention. the ext is the most versitale vehicle i've ever owned and is a joy to ride and drive. i wouldn't trade it for anything. now the H2 on the other hand is just plain DUMB. also the resale on ext's seems to be holding quite strong compared to other caddies- 2002's sell for 36-42k-compare that to an STS and you'll see what i mean-both about the same price new, but the EXT pulls almost 10k more resale-now that will buy a bunch of gas!! even at 12 mpg, thats 60,000 mile of "free" gas. and thens there is the real reason i have an EXT- my wife likes them!-lol
You took the words right out of my mouth.
I had an Avalanche and traded up to the EXT and there's definitely no comparison. The EXT is way more vehicle. Suits my needs to a "T" ..
As for the gas guzzling issue.
35 years ago when we had the gas crisis, the goverment was yakking about becoming self sufficient with the oil issue but if they haven't done it by now ( think about it...35 years! ) they never will.
There's no country I'd rather live in than the good 'ol USA so for people to say gas guzzlers are supporting terrorist etc .. think about it.
It just doesn't fly.
I mean do you have to have a need for something to buy it.
Hey last time I looked I was still in America!!
Just my 2 cents.
Regards.. Frank

I don't understand why someone would want one of the big ugly things unless they HAD to have it for carting stuff or curtain climbers around. I mean...The only reason I even have my van is 'cause it's needed for my business and keeps the miles down on the Cadillac! Fur the most part I think SUV means Stupid Useless Vehicle. That having been said....I do not agree with the IDIOT liberal Nazis that want to outlaw them! Those people are UN-American I.M.H.O.
Last I looked we do live in America land of the free. I feel if you can afford and Escalade without selling the kids. What difference does it make. You should have the freedom to drive whatever vehicle you can afford and want. People like you really piss me off. You are not paying my truck payment. As far as Escalade's being ugly I feel a lot of people would disagree with you. Why would they be a #1 selling vehicle ??? You are on a Cadillac Forum and I personally feel offended that you would refer to Escalade's as "SUV means Stupid Useless Vehicle" You should be more respectful to us Caddy owners. If you want to drive a van good for you. But don't try and stuff your B.S. opinion on us Escalade lovers. I don't mean to sound unreasonable but I feel you are out of line.
Peace :xsmile:

I'm with you xray tell this dude to get off our forum and stop hating. Why do you even take the time to hate on us. I have never had any negative comments about my truck. And yeah I got 20+ rims on my truck so what. It's extra style to the truck. I don't know anyone who would think its cool to dent and scratch up an escalade but you. Go drive your van around with you dumb comments. Calling us "stupid useless vehicle" hahaha stop hating.

So do anyone like the new Suburban Escalade? I think its a bit over-kill now with 3 different version of it in GMC, Chevy, and now Cadillac.
I am in shock in awe after driving a couple that people pay so much for them. And yes GM has whored it out. Silverado, Denali, Yukon, Escalade, EXT, ESC, EXT, SUV, blah blah blah. I cannot believe the Escalade has so many exposed screws.
But big is in. The infintii QX56 is a quality nightmare but people buy em.

Looking at the Landcruiser into a Lexus LX 470, there is more of a different. And the Landcruiser is more luxurious than any Escalade. With Lexus touching it up, the Escalade is not even close luxury wise. I think they add some wood trim around that horrible dash.

But the Escalade and all 500 versions of it is BIG, it is "in your face" and people like it because rappers and blingers like it and its good that Caddy sells them.

Its like the new age version of Caddys with the white tops......

People buy Escalades because they're the most ostentatious vehicle they can afford. Escalade is big, luxurious, roomy, expensive, impressive, menacing, empowering, and secure. No mere car can deliver the same ownership and driving experience.

That's what owning a Cadillac is all about.

You may think driving around in an Escalade is wasteful, pretentious, ignorant, selfish, dangerous... that's exactly how many people viewed Cadillac cars in their heyday.

Arguing the technical merits or shortcomings or (gasp) utility of Escalade completely misses the point of the beast.

Escalade delivers the traditional Cadillac mystique better than anything else in the inventory today.

Great post. I agree. I read a review in EVO magazine and they were going over the Escalde and asking Cadillac officials about it. They did not want to be named but yes there were happy the Thing was selling but there were troubled by what is stands for and the most popular caddy is a gussied up Silverado. They also were not sure if they were happy with who and how the Escalade was projected.

Sorry sir I own a Landcruiser and an Escalade. I also am not a rapper or blinger. The Escalade is much more luxuious and comfortable than the Landcruiser. I hardly even drive my Landcruiser anymore it's like driving a pick-up truck compared to my Escalade. I will still use it but mostly for grunt work like picking up Christmas trees or lumber. I never thought I would be a Caddy lover. I don't think I will every drive anything else. Only ++'s I see between the two is the heat and air conditioning works quicker in the Landcruiser :)
Peace :worship:

I actually hate people who say, buying gas is supporting terrorist, either way, whatever car i have, I'd STILL HAVE TO BUY GAS. Unless of course i had a cheap solar powered car that would have trouble getting up a small hill. Either way, with or without suv's and gas, If the terrorist want money, they'll get it somehow.

Root of this problem is just jealosy. Plain and simple. Most people who own Escalades are like myself. 4 or 5 cars in the garages and needed something that has work capability (carry the dogs to the park) and travels well.
Simply put I would not own or consider any other Cadillac besides their "trucks".
If I needed a sport sedan I would definitely go with a BMW/Mercedes. CVT are just BMW wanta be's without the looks, clout, performance or built quality.
For the full size sedan I will continue to own and purchase what my wife drives Lexus LS's. Even though I am over 50, I still can not see myself in a caddy sedan. My father's car image still well-entrenched. I do not hate these of lines of cadillacs but also do not try to disse the people who do.
Stop the hate and jealosy and enjoy what you like and can afford.

Jealosy has clouded many a person's ideologies. :coolgleam

Let me tell you something. I have been shopping for a while now and I got my EXT for the following reasons:

Stabiltrak with the AWD and RSS! So, it rides much better!
HIDs
Nicer dash, not cheap looking ones like the GMCs and Chevy versions
Painted everything that Avalanche doesn't have
Higher Output Engine with lots of torque!
Nicer exterior, prettier than the Avalanche, right?
Rear Bumper Sensors with visual and audio indicators
Quieter interior and the doors shuts quieter too.
Longer standard warranty

I got it at a employee discount!!

Any questions? What are you doing in our forum if you hate our Escalades so much?:D

I am really only looking at an escalade since i am in the market for a luxury car but New England Winters suck and my job requires me to get to work rain or shine. My current vehicles are a 98 Camaro SS for the summer/Drag the other is a 97 jeep cherokee that i use as my winter vehicle. I also do some off roading in it since well, its a jeep:)

I like the escalade my only gripe is that it gets 12mpg city. My 400hp camaro makes 19 city and my jeep makes 18 city.

For what it's worth, my 2000 is driven on many beaches here on Long Island...you should see the funny looks I get. One guy out at Montauk Point said "Hey, those Caddy's aren't made to do any 4 wheelin....they're just made for looks." Guess he was wrong!!

We have owned 26 Grand Cherokee's in my companies, my last two 5.9's and 4.7 H.O. got under 11 mpg in the city, my Escalade is not much better but at least gets 12.2 in the city, much better than the 10.6 my 02' GC gets.

My 99 Escalade does thirty mile round trips in deep Matagorda sand for beachfront surf fishing or surfing, trounces through Marsh in search of ducks and redfish, launches Dad's boat for surf and fishing excursions, and tows the equipment for the Texas Gulf Surfing Association,

It gets used for what it was made for... and still snaps necks on the streets from time to time even though it is all stock except for some air shocks and some 10" subs!

Gotta love it!
