Yeah! Shut up KC ;)
See mnymaker, THAT's how you deal with him!
(putting my bullet-proof vest on and watching my back)

No, actually, KC's right. He is one of the BEST examples of what's GREAT about not only this forum but America. He's PASSIONATE about his life. You may not agree with him, but you gotta respect his honest passion. That's what won me over. If there's one thing I hate it's a PC, always agreeable, no-opinion-having........
Sorry, got carried away there ;)
You get the idea.

American SUV's are cheap to make because they're just enclosed pick-up trucks. People who think that they're actually safer are falling for the "bigger is better" line.

There are a few SUV's that might be better-built and safer than their American counterparts--the Acura MDX, Lexus RX330, and Volvo XC90 come to mind. These vehicles are built on their own platforms. Nothing's been converted from another model.

But I agree with kc. I'm a car man. Trucks are only good for a specific purpose or as a 2nd or 3rd vehicle. I'm sick of trying to see around minivans and suv's just to back out of a parking space.

Would you listen to yourselves. I don't have a 'Lade but everyone is saying how pointless the vehicle is. None of you drive your other Caddies because they are ugly or because they serve some specific purpose only. Everyone on here is swapping tips on how to make them look better or go faster or ride smoother. So whether someone buys an Escalade and drives it to the grocery store or jams 22's on it and lowers it, its their Caddy and thats what they want theres to look like or do.

It not an issue of if you would but 20's on yours or not, just like its not an issue to the Escalade drivers if you are reprogramming the computer in your Seville, Fleetwood or Deville to hop up the horsepower to some ungodly rating. Not every Caddy on this board is a daily driver (so how useless is that?) but you still cherish it cause its your baby. Lets not hate on those folks who can afford what they want also.

Hope I don't isolate myself on the board but I don't think you guys were hearing yourself bash other Caddy owners for loving their rides too.
Cheers to that.

That is true, and people can use their money however they want. If they want to spend 60k on a escalade and 22s, go ahead. But Madlac decided to start this topic, and we threw in our opinions.

But you have to admit, the first gen, and to some degree the 2nd gen escalades really arent all "cadillac". With the first gen, they were EXACTLY the same inside, minus the steering wheel emblem, and some wood trim, and other minor things. The second gen is better.

Yeah, But the second gen. is BUTT ugly! I like the DeVille/CTS look but it sucks on trucks! That's just my opinion....And most of my friends as well!

Thats what I dont understand...... People go buy these SUVs that get 11mpg (thats what our new suburban gets) and they complain about it. Well I get about 12 or 13 MPG in my Q, and I have to use PREMIUM, yet I dont complain. IF YOU DONT LIKE PAYING FOR GAS, DONT BY A GAS GUZZLER!

You got to admit that 8,000 pounds and a V-10 will make a man out of any wimp. I hate to knock our own, but to me, it just seems that the Escalade is just a Tahoe or Denali with an inflated sticker price. In Canada the EXT truck is stickered at 72,000, GAK, for a truck? I'm sorry, thats just too much deniro to be practical or look good.

I've got to disagree with you Ralph! He'll just be a peckerhead in a big truck! We all know that, what you drive doesn't make you who you are.....But who you are might well determine what you drive....That little peckerhead might just need that truck to try to make up for something he thinks is missing in himself!

People buy Escalades because they're the most ostentatious vehicle they can afford. Escalade is big, luxurious, roomy, expensive, impressive, menacing, empowering, and secure. No mere car can deliver the same ownership and driving experience.

That's what owning a Cadillac is all about.

You may think driving around in an Escalade is wasteful, pretentious, ignorant, selfish, dangerous... that's exactly how many people viewed Cadillac cars in their heyday.

Arguing the technical merits or shortcomings or (gasp) utility of Escalade completely misses the point of the beast.

Escalade delivers the traditional Cadillac mystique better than anything else in the inventory today.

That statement has to be based in a total lack of understanding of the so called Cadillac mystique! It's a CAR! It has no mystique! The Cadillac ownership experience has always been about luxury cars and has nothing to do with trucks! As far as obnoxious, wasteful, pretentious or any of that! Who cares? The Escalade is the low rent stepchild of an otherwise fine car company whos flagship...The DeVille is what the company has always done best and will continue to do long after the Escalade is commited to the memories of those who like to remember fads and flashes in the pan! No matter what they did to make it look like a cadillac on the outside it's still JUST A YUKON! with a bad facelift!

The thing is, all other cadillacs (with a couple exceptions) have their OWN chassis. The escalade shares it with 3 other vehicles, the tahoe, yukon, and denali. Just like KC siad, it has the cadillac wreath, but ISNT A CADILLAC!

See any resemblance??
