Hi everyone,

This is my first post in this forum and I'm happy to be with you guys
my name is Nawaf and im from Saudi Arabia, im planning to buy 2015 ATS V6 the luxury package , i love Cadillac so much but im not familiar with it when it comes to use.
However, to be honest back in the 2000s editions Cadillac reputation was bad, i mean I've heard a lot of complaints about it but i don't know about the latest generations, so i need to know from owners about it, is it good for daily use? is there any issues i should be considered about? is the car sensitive? do you guys have any serious complains about it?

I've took it for a test drive and i loved it, it remind me a lot of the corvette since had one couple years ago.

Thanks,

The only complaints I've seen for the v6 is rough idle, but that was 2013s maybe some 14s. Other than that, it's been golden. Plus that engine is used in many other applications and for some years now so I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

My suggestion is to spend some time and read the forums. Keep going back several pages and make your own evaluation. I spent over a month on these forums before I bought my car.
Thanks my friend
but after you bought it, is there any problems?

Hi Navaf, and welcome to the forums! I would say ATS is a very reliable car. That being said, in any mass production there would be bad/faulty parts here and there. Or in first model year cars, there might be some problems in the designs. These things are not exclusive to Cadillac, and you might encounter them no matter what you buy; Cadillac, BMW, MB, Audi, you name it.

I have my ATS for two years, and haven't had even a single problem. I would strongly recommend my friends buying this car. But in your case, I have to caution you about your local dealer and after sale support and service. Cadillac is a global brand, but unfortunately in many countries it lacks good dealership chain and service. For example, there are very few Cadillac dealers in entire Europe, and the service is terrible. The same about Middle East. Even in the U.S. itself, the service quality is not consistent and many, myself included, complain about the service I receive from my local Cadillac dealer. There is another Cadillac ATS owner here, who is from Saudi Arabia. If you keep looking at the threads and search here for Saudi Arabia, you might be able to find him. He can give you a better advice on the quality of service in your local Cadillac dealer, and whether it is dependable or not. One of the main (number one?) week points of the Cadillac is its service departments in its dealership chain. The car itself is very dependable, but I cannot say the same about the entire dealership chain of Cadillac.

Good luck!

Thanks Ben,

Regarding the dealer "no problem at all" because our delar is good also the service, and strong dealer too since he is responsible for the government vehicles and have a lot of contracts with them and he is one and maybe the only first dealer since the 70s .
However, i work in the biggest insurance company in the middle East in motor department so i have connections with the dealer service workshop when it comes to service, so my only concern was about the car and how much dependable it can be.

thanks very much

We've had our 2.0T Luxury over a year with zero problems. Before the ATS, we had a V-6 CTS for over six years which was very reliable.

I would caution you about paying too much attention to car forums (all of them). In my opinion, they tend to overemphasize the negatives about a car.

I'd put more stock in test drives and reviews by people who know cars. Just my opinion.

Hello Nawaf and welcome to the forum!

I had a 2008 CTS with the 3.6 V6 prior to my 2014 ATS (also 3.6 V6) and I have been happy with both. The ATS had a cracked charcoal canister (part of the emissions control system) that required a few dealer visits to repair but since then the ATS has been trouble free. This problem only caused a check engine light but no operational/driving issues so it was a minor problem. Other than this the ATS has been an excellent ownership experience and as a previous owner of a 3.6 equipped Cadillac it was an easy choice for me to order the same in the ATS. Fuel mileage is very good and I love the power and driving characteristics of this rear wheel drive platform.

In a few months I will be ordering a 2016 Corvette Z06 but the ATS will remain my daily driver and share winter driving time with my 2006 GMC diesel pickup. The MOST important part of any car ownership experience is having a good dealer since even if something major happens a good dealer can minimize the trouble for you while a poor dealer can turn the most minor issue into a major problem for the customer. Also spend some time on the Cadillac site to make sure that you know which options you really want so you don't end up wishing you had ordered something that cannot easily be added after the sale.

I've had the Lux ATS for 2 years and have been to the dealership (a good one) at least 10-12 times, including recalls and new design fixes (like the faulty A/C drainage system, for example.) The only issue I have with Caddy now is that I feel they screwed us on updating the CUE system. Having said that, I'll say that I'll never buy a new model year car again as you wind up being an alpha tester; but the ATS is still a great car to drive. This is my first Caddy and I didn't get the car because it was a Caddy (could care less about Cadillac, or any other brand for that matter), got it because I didn't want another BMW (nothing wrong with BMWs at all, just wanted a different car as I was trading in a 2002 325 and keeping my 2005 Z4) but wanted a car that drove as good or better than a BMW and cost less...with a little added luxury. By now I would think that the ATS is on its way to having had its issues solved and would be a good buy. In fact, when I can't easily get in and out of my Z4, I will consider the ATS coupe (along with the BMW 228 coupe and MB C-300 coupe) as possibly my next car. The only thing holding me back would be if ATS didn't change the dash. Love the present dash, but would want to look at a new one if I bought a new car. Good luck and have fun.

Hi Nawaf,

i have had my 2014 Premium 3.6 till now at 11000 miles. From my experience, the good:

_ fast!!!
_ beautiful!
_ awesome technologies
_ handling corner likes an angel :)

The bad:
_ Moldy AC at startup. If u do a search for this in the forum, you will find a ton. It occurs on most 2013 and 14 models, especially if u live in hot climate, which I believe that Saudi Arabia is very hot. So make sure that you sit it the car during cold start and verify that there is no moldy smell. To some, its not too bad. To me, its terrible. GM still dont have a fix yet as of now.
_ Engine vibration at idle. have been occuring since 13 to 14 models, 2.0 or 3.6, each has gotten a different treatment by GM. Some has gotten the ECM reprogrammed, on mine, they replaced the engine mount.
_ With 18" low profile tires and FE3 suspension, the ride is pretty harsh, accompanying with rattles here and there (some for the life of me, I cannot identify where it cane from). But if u like listening to loud music while driving, this should b no problem

Overall great car. Would I recommend it? No. Mainly because they still have not been able to fix the damn AC for 2 years.

I would say buy it with your connections for service no problem. Only complaint I really have is the Black Raven paint is really soft on mine. I look at it and it scratches.

Yeah I say there's no real reason not to buy the ATS. I've only had mine (2014 Premium 2.0T) for six months and 5500km, but so far so good. Engine is strong, car stands out and looks great. Fun to drive. Quality, comfortable interior. I'm. Fan. I'd maybe bump it up to Premium if possible for the LED lights and better suspension. But all in all it's a fine machine with no problems so far.

I say no chance on having the same problem with the AC in Saudi Arabia as Houston. Go somewhere with virtually no humidity (no moisture to pull from the air) and the chances of growing mildew/mold goes away or at least becomes very small.
