There's three of these within fourty five minutes drive from my house. I've ALWAYS wanted to go explore them...but the damned legal issues kinda make me hesitate...

Oooo interesting. There's a bunch of those up by my great uncle's place in the North Dakota farmland. I've always wanted to go explore those too.

HELL YES! I get off on that kind of stuff! I would love to go exploring in something like that.

Abandoned Coal Breaker Plants are where its at.

In '96, my Dad, Mom,and I went up to Allentown PA to visit my Dads family and to show me where hes from and all that stuff.(Thats the same time i had my first taste of Cadillac, having found two '69 Eldorado hub caps on my great Uncles farm, which are now hanging on my wall)

Anyhoo,my Dad and his cousin and me wen to this old abandoned Coal Breaker Plant that was pretty much untouched by vandals or graffiti. It was easily one of the coolest things ive ever seen or done. We even found papers that were dated 1947! We are going up to Allentown and Emaus later this year. I will be SURE to take lots of pics.

There are some WWII era POW camps near me, in the more rural parts of the Twin Cities (Hastings, Rosemount area for MN members) that I've always wanted to go exploring. The signs say "no trespassing, govt property" but I don't think anyone would see if I was in there for a few minutes. ;) I've heard they're either POW camps or weapons building facilities...either way it sounds fun.

There are a few missile silos you can legally visit that are preserved as museums.

Legal? Museum?

F that S. The fun part is that youre not supposed to be there. Add in danger and the fact that only a couple,if not zero people have been there in 35+ years. Thats what makes it interesting and fun., at least to me. I wanna go places very few, or no people have been in a long time, that kind of stuff ammuses me. Like the abandoned subways under New York, wow, dont get me started on that...

We have an old ICBM silo a couple miles from my house, full of water now.All the stuff was stripped out of it years ago.15 miles from me there was a Nazi prison camp, you can still see the shitters everywhere. They made the prisoners pick up rocks out of all these fields.Ironically, I also spent time picking up rocks out of fields.

I've done the Titan Missile Museum tour back when I lived in Arizona. If you're interested more in how the missile launch complexes work rather than just exploring an abandoned hole in the ground, it's worth checking out if you're ever in the Tucson area.

FWIW, both of my brothers-in-law were missile officers at one time stationed in the missile silos in North Dakota. They're all decomissioned now.

Not really the same as missile silos, but in the spirit of lurking where one should not lurk -

Anyone that lives in WI, I would recommend you go to that place. I've been to it many times, it's particularily shit-your-pants when it's dark out. I'm not easily scared, but this place is spooky. Huge buildings, some from over a hundred years ago, and an underground tunnel system that connects all of the buildings. Don't believe the BS stories on that website - I only posted it because of the good pictures. I don't feel like loading the ones I've taken from the numerous times I have been there. Very cool place.

If it is what interests you, I would go for it. Sounds like a really cool place to go snooping around. Try to be secretive about it, and you most likely won't get caught. I know that I would do it.

Yeah, I'm kinda an urban explorer too. I would not only like to venture into a silo, but also the Paris catacombs.
