From what I read the Dunlop SP Sport Signature is the best all weather replacement for the Michelin 235-50-17 V rated's originally on my STS. Has anyone tried these. I put a set of Dunlop Signature tires on my wife's minivan and they are super quiet.

Those are excellent tires and I believe are the new OEM tires on the Jaguar. I am running Goodyear Eagle FI all-season tires and love them, as well. (Of course, Dunlop is a Goodyear company.)

Bought 4 Falken 235/50/17 tires. Falken rated 1st by consumer reports (Nov 07). I find it about 50% quieter that standard Michelins. Has great performance around corners. Great on wet traction. 40K mileage tire. No pro rated.

I have the Michelins Energy 236 /50-17's, and they are fine, but wet weather,
they suck, as Little Richard said, Slippin and Slidden.
So I did all the homework, and found, and thought I would go bigger, also.
They are the General Exclaim UHP. Ultra High Performance.
also upgrading to 255/45 ZR 17's.This will NOT affect the speedometer.
I have'nt bought them yet, but they are on my next big item, was only
going for 2 at first, but General has a deal, if you buy 4, you get a Visa
for $ 100.00 !
These tires are supposed to have GREAT wet traction, they look like,
Goodyear's Top tire, but 255/45 are NOT available from Goodyear.

I have had two sets of General tires as OEM on two new GM cars. After my experience with those tires, I would never deliberately buy a set of General tires.

Karl D, I agree with your post 100 %, But Why ?
Because,OEM tires and stores like SEARS do NOT sell quality tires.
If you go to TireRack and LOOK at say any manufacturer, who sells,
a bunch of models of tires, you would see, they vary in Treadware,
And Traction. This particular tire is rated in a list of various manufacturers.
about 3rd or 4 th,and of course "they" are MORE expensive.
These are only $107.00 each with a High rating.98 % Not by General, but
Tire rack, with 9.8 million miles reported, and the HIGHEST Ride Comfort 8.6.
I Will try them, and let you know. Thanks for your input.

BTW, after looking at the post: SHOW YOUR STS, I see all the different
tires, and wheels, other members have installed.
And my question is to other members:
What do you do about the speedometer error, with off size wheels/tires ?:stirpot:

I work at a dealer and see all of that too...they don't do nothin' about it. I'm the only person I know who is
concerned about it.

doowap57,

Of course your right about tire grades. I guess it always comes down to you get what you pay for. Let us know how the Generals work out for you.

You can maintain overall tire diameter even if you change wheel size. It is called plussing, and as long as you decrease aspect ratio while raising wheel diameter, an overall diameter can be maintained and speedometer error averted.

Here you can get an idea of wheel diameter for different sized tires. After going to the site you can change tire choice and it lists the attributes of the tire you select.
