Time to change the tires on the 04. Thinking about having the same size all around, but the service advisor at the dealer recommends not to because of the computer that controls the stabibility system is different than one in the 05-07's. Is there any truth to this? My 07 has 20's all around, why can't it be done with the 04s?

I still don't understand why the service people get bent over changing the tire sizes. As long as the overall dia stays close or the same all around the car can't tell what size tire it has. I test fitted my 255s (rears) on the front and they fit fine, I've been thinking of testing a 285/50/18. The 285 may be too wide for the fronts with the stock wheel/offset, it's going to be close to the steering knuckle.

With a correct size and offset wheel I think 315s would fit under the SRX... might be overkill, but it would look bad a$$. 285/50 is the max size suggested for a 8" wheel that is close in overall diameter. I like big sticky tires, my 300ZX has 275s under it and my Maxima has 255s so the SRX tires just look a little small. I'll post pictures when I do the test fit.

Looking at the same thing right now...

2004 AWD with factory Mich. Pilots w/ about 37k. Significant wear in the front and only inside tread wear on the two rears, but I am going to replace them all at once.

Just a question, if you can put the same size around all 4, do the 255/55/18's provide a better ride than if you were just to put the 235/60/18's on? What are the other benefits to the larger sizes??

I assume that it is worth the extra $60-$70 you would be spending on a set...

Thanks

There are several other posts where people say the ride is great with the 255's all around. My preference is for the look rather than the ride - most of my passengers don't talk much, let alone complain.
