If I put winter/rims tires on w/o sensors can it be turned off in the car?

can what be turned off? I assume you mean the TPS? They just wont sense. youll get --- readings on all 4 corners and you wont be able to get into Comp mode.

If you can move your 'summer' wheels, the ones with the TPS's far enough away from the car (a few hundred feet) you'll be fine. You will be able to get into competitive mode fine.

yes, i was refering to turning the tps system off, so you don't get the error symbol flashing all of the time. I am going to pick up a set of rims/tires for winter from Tirerack. Unless anyone knows where I can get some black rims for the CTS-V? Thanks for your help.

Like Dreamin said.....move them far away from the car, or triple wrap them in tin-foil. (They are sensitive little buggers) Drive the car continously for about 50 miles, and the system resets itself and you can then use the competitive mode or whatever you want.
