Anyone have any Tips or tricks to post for those of us that do not read the Owners Manual?

Its nice that if you stop the car, an soon as you open the door, the car will go into Park.

  • Press & Hold the "Lock" button for few seconds and the mirrors will automatically fold in.
  • Press & Hold the "Unlock" for few seconds again and the mirrors will expand outward again.
  • Press & Hold the "Unlock" button for 5 seconds or more and ALL the windows will come down. (Great when the temp outside is super HOT!)
The last one is pretty handy on a hot day. It is too bad you cannot close them remotely too. :)

Touch everywhere and everything on the CUE screen.....there are a myriad of surprises there, such as:

  • Touch the time in the upper right corner and an analog clock appears
  • Touching the temp in the upper left corner acts as a shortcut to the climate app
  • Touching the station number in the radio app brings up a scrolling list of all the stations for that band
  • While in this scrolling list touching "view", will toggle the list from station name/number to artist playing on that station to track name playing on that station
  • You have up to 60 presets (depending on CUE version) they don't have to be radio stations, they can be phone numbers that will automatically dial when touched, tone settings, destination locations....(could be more options i haven't gone beyond those 4)
  • When using Apple CarPlay, there's no need to pair your phone (in fact it works better if you don't)
  • You can change the behavior of the Previous/Next station steering wheel buttons to either Previous/Next station or Previous/Next preset favorite in the DIC settings
  • App Icons can be repositioned with a long press...and the 5 shortcut buttons at the top can be changed to your preferred apps using the same method

Hmm, this is interesting. I know that one of the forum members created a device that disables auto-stop by having it trip the hood open sensor briefly during start-up. Maybe a simpler solution would be to place a switch in the cabin that you press to momentarily trip it, and then it would stay disabled for the entire drive.

If you shut the engine off, it will automatically shift to park. It will also automatically apply the park brake if it detects that you are on an incline.

  • This thread has just blown my mind :)

Sunroof tip...
Possibly a lot of people don't know this, after you open the Sunroof, If you hold the button to open it again, it will open an additional 5" or so. I think the opening stops here because if you drive over 30MPH, the wind buffeting is horrible, that's why they have it electronically stop short. On my previous SRX, it had opened more than the XT5, but also can go the distance if you just hold the button... :)

Sync I tell ya...

I hate when rear passengers or front passengers change the Temp. It will stay that way forever, unless you Sync again. Just hit the raise or lower temp button 1 degree, you will see SYNC appear on the CUE screen, tap SYNC. Now front and rear all match the driver again.

If you forget to do this, the HVAC has a constant battle to keep the temp set correctly. Ya think when you restart the car and no one is in the Passenger seat or the rear seats that the car will default to the Driver setting....

When restarted with no one in the rear seats, the rear HVAC will not turn on automatically. If the rear HVAC is running, and the car is restarted with someone in the rear seats, the rear HVAC will run at the last settings. The rear HVAC on the SRX had to be turned on manually after each restart.

If you or your sig-o are sensitive to road smells (heavy exhaust from other vehicles, whatever), replace the stock cabin air filter with one that includes activated carbon. Cadillac went "cheap" on the stock cabin air filter; it only filters particulates, not smells. There is a GM OEM one available with activated carbon, but you can also buy third-party ones, and the replacement procedure is pretty straight-forward --there's a thread around here somewhere with pictures.

You are correct! I just replaced the Original. It is a very flimsy non carbon filter. The replacement is better made and Carbon coated. No screw driver needed unlike the SRX. If I recall correctly, Open Glove box, Disconnect right side String that stops the box from dropping ( Note, it is under tension and will snap away, hold on to the bugger....) Then tilt in on the Left and Right side of the box, it will release 2 holding clips, the box will drop. On the Right side of the filter housing, open the clip and remove and replace filter. Hardest part of the job is dealing with the tension string connected tot he box.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to turn off all interior lights? Specifically, the ones in the rear cargo area when the gate is up?

Going to be tailgating for a few college football games in the coming weeks, and I’m really excited to have a larger vehicle. But, I also don’t want to kill my battery.
