Has anyone decided to tint their baby yet-any pointers? I actually also purchased the Xzilon protection plan from the dealership! So far mine is the only 1 have actually seen on the road in these woods.

I’m going to ceramic coat all the windows including the roof based on what I’ve read about the AC struggling above 100 deg. Here in Texas we call that summer

Did you finally get ceramic done? I am also thinking of doing given it's so hot in Texas. can you share what you went with finally?

I am thinking of Front Windows, Wind Shield and Roof.
But from Tesla forums, they are suggesting not to do roof. But not sure if it's same issue with Lyriq roof too. Would love to know if some one did and faced no issues with roof

I've had the front windows done and am planning to get the windshield done in a couple weeks.

With a roof shade, I feel like a roof tint isn't necessary unless you really want to leave it open all the time. Also, there's lots of stories about roof glass cracking after tinting and although I don't think it's been definitively proven to be the cause, I'd rather not risk it if the roof shade is doing most of the heavy lifting anyway.

I'm in this Texas heat and I see absolutely no need to tint the sunroof. The shade does a very good job. I'm going to have my front windows done with a Nano-ceramic tint (XPEL Prime XR Plus 30%). This blocks 96% of IR and keeps the VLT (Visible Light Transmission) legal (in Texas).

I had my front windows done by the dealership (they contracted through 3rd party) when I took delivery. Based on Zymurgy's quote, pretty sure I got ripped off a bit but this is also because I partly misunderstood and thought they would also be doing the windshield. Given this was when car prices were still being marked up and because the dealer didn't play any other games with add ons/mark ups/financing, I begrudingly let this slide.

Windshield film quote (from same 3rd party, Llumar films) was $250-300. For the windshield, this is a clear film (Texas law says no tint) so it's like half as effective for IR/total energy rejection as what I got on the front windows. But I've decided to try it given the size and angle of the windshield.

Roof tint quote was $400-500 depending on the film.

So they say they that they haven't typically seen issues with the stickers but they also install an additional small patch of ppf on top of the film where the sticker would go for additional protection. I also saw online there are sticker shields and static cling based film that act as an intermediary you can stick the sticker to and then have that cling to the windshield.

This looks like a solution. I am going to wait until I get the car and then decide if tinting is needed. I suspect yes here in Texas. At least to front side windows and clear windshield to comply with Texas law. I suspect the dealer who installs the ceramic will have this available, if not then I’ll order some pretreatment.

The windshield will make the biggest difference, due to the size alone. Don’t get caught up with the marketing lingo, like nano particle and such. Look at your TSER rating as it encompasses IR, UV, and visible light, all
of which contributes to heat. Obviously you need to find the right balance between TSER and VLT because not everyone wants 5% tint.

Got the windshield done at Sunbusters in Austin. It's Llumar Air 90, which is a clear ceramic film (84% VLT according to the specs), since tint on the front windshield is illegal here. Kind of wish Air 80 (77% VLT) was possible since it seems to step up the rejection closer to what I have on the front windows which is Llumar Pinnacle 30 (tinted ceramic).

From the inside, can't really tell a difference in terms of visibility and VLT. I would say the heat difference between it and the tinted front windows is somewhat noticeable with a simple back of hand test near the windows, which makes sense as the front windows have much stronger rejection vs the windshield (around 1.5x). The front window heat was definitely noticeable vs my old car that did not have any film. Whether or not the windshield was worth it remains to be seen, but any bit helps down here.

Picked up some of this to use for the stickers along with some sticker shield. Figured I would use this first to see how well it works since I wanted to avoid any stickers to the film out of caution. It's applied in the pictures and you can't really tell it's there, except from the inside if you look closely.
