The timing chains in a Northstar engine do not require service. Lifetime deal.

It's not clear what engine you are talking about. Or which belt.

Your car has NO timing belt. It has a timing chain. No required replacement.

And count it as a blessing.
I just had to replace timing belt on my honda odyssey this week,
required at 105,000 miles.

4.6 hours of labor,
timing belt -$60,
hydraulic tensioner - $140,
Also, since your in there, change the water pump,
which adds another $130 to the tab.

Cost me a total of $760.

I agree don't change unless you have too or you are to that point. I am starting to get leakage around it so I will be doing mine soon.

If you would have done yourself that would have been under $400...man mechanics I tell ya that is more then 50% on labor no wonder I don't like them.
