You dont have a timing belt, it's a timing chain which is supposed to be good for the life of the car.

First of all, NO I'm not having yet ANOTHER problem with this car. 
But since there will be work done on it very soon, should I have the timing belt replaced while we're at it? I don't know if it’s original or not, but compared to the cost of repair if it fails, the cost of a new belt is significantly less.
Signs of wear would be the same as the serpentine belt?
My car WILL run like new when I'm finished. I'm confident I don't have a lemon here, just a car that's slightly temperamental like its owner. And I didn't say high maintenance, I said temperamental.

Wow just the title of this thread had me shivering. Timing belt, ugghhh import crap.
Chains I say chains in America LOL. They're huge and vicious looking and ready to eat those 4 cylinder things
If the cars going to be apart it doesn't hurt to change the serpentine belt and the water pump belt.
