Just stumbled on this. Sounds interesting. Might be worth the $100.

I don't believe any of these work. At least not enough to tell the difference. This is not news either. This crap has been around for decades and it's never worked. From what I understand the most likely result of these chips is a drop in gas mileage. I'm with the submarine man. Show us real world documented results.

While this is true for most of these "miracle chips", they just take your money and may cause damage to your engine. But, the ones that promise and deliver proven results really do work.

You've been around cars for awhile, don't you remember, back in the day, that the first thing that you would do to a car to increase performance is to advance the timing with a quick curve kit in the distributor, rejet the carb and maybe even put an advance button in the cam gear? Well, that's what the modern tuners do. I have done this to every car/truck(that I liked) from my 1st car, a '50 Olds to my current SRX. Gas mileage has never been a concern with me,( a string of rotaryengined Mazdas and a 454SS pickup will drive that thought out of your thought process). I only use tunes with documented results, so I most always get good results, but they aren't cheap.

I suggest you read their "Terms of Service" about 4-5 pages long and is done in a way so not easy to read

Their claim of UP TO 40 HP gain (they do not state if that is flywheel, rearwheel and only at sea level)
Their claim that it would not void gm warranty is total BS
Does not state if it would cause failing smog testing
Says your money returned only for first 30 days
They will not pay for any damage due to use or due to loss of GM warranty

Looking at their website, I suspect this really comes from China and they are just resellers

As I have tuned hundreds of GM vehicles since 1995 I can see they are pissing in the wind and show no proof at all of that their "cookie cutter" generic tune cannot assure their statement that their product will not harm the engine and/or tranny
You can buy these from Ali Express website which is in China for $42 US so you clearly see that vendor is a scam artist

Seems this tune in a box has caused problems enough for this to be written for all cyberspace to read

A few of the suckers who did buy this "canned" tune

This chip is bout as useless as a clogged fuel filter on a bicycle.
I purchased one (sucker me) stage 3 and tested it on several road trips with zero gain in fuel mileage. And to top it off, HP gain is zip, none.
I now use it as a display in our automotive business of what not to ever purchase for your vehicle.

It's a great conversation piece when a customer ask about added performance for their trucks and cars.

Purchased this stage 2 chip for my 2015 Toyota Tundra before throughly investigating reviews.
After installing the chip and running it for three weeks, I cannot tell any difference in performance, gas mileage, anything - nothing, zip, nada. E-mailed Thornton Performance Chip company and got same performance from them as the chip gave - nothing, zip, nada.
This thing is nothing but a scam. DO NOT BUY !! Fool me once, shame on them, fool me twice, shame on me. Repeat: SCAM- DO NOT BUY !!!!

I bought it in hopes for a small fuel gain 2019 ram 1500 its total crap doing my normal 70 mile trip phx to mesa every day untuned i get about 16.5mpg (math done on pump gas not dash test) with tuner on for a month i was getting 13.2mpg no noticable difference in power and after nearly a month i noticed 8 speed trans started shifting funky almost slipping when slowing for a red light then getback on it to go at green but not making a full stop was hoping for imprivement got crap sadly took me over money back time line to learnit all so hopefully my loss will help others dont bother with this trash

ZR, it was on the internet so it must be true.

I know that you, personally in these forums, have debunked at least a half dozen miracle chip and black box claims. Sometimes it seems we're spitting into the wind.

Dudes - horsepower over and above factory output is expensive, time-consuming, and dedicated work. Modify, tune, test, tune, test, go back to Square One if necessary. You are dicking with a powerplant that took thousands of design/test hours to bring to market. Good luck. As always, make sure your "upgrade" did not actually degrade performance and reliability.

These scammers are real clowns,
they do not even bother sanding off the part # for the microprocessor they are using
I simply looked up that part # we find cost is only about $1.50 each

Buy Now Price, Any Quantity
1-24 $1.49

Looking at its specs :

Has also no flash memory to program and function, only few K bytes
Consider GM today for just the PCM use 2.5 million bytes it is clear this scam device has zero chance of
Programming and overwriting GM's calibration much less learn and adjust GM's values

The rest of the hardware is simply what is needed to reduce the 12 volts from the vehicle to 5 volts

I suspect they claim it takes 125 miles to "learn" is just a way to burn up into the 30 days to get a refund

At best, it could fake out the PCM as to what the air and coolant temps are so PCM would use higher timing values
but the fact they are using the same product for all nameplate models and years that if it does nothing but get up to the $230 they charge for a so-called stage 3 performance tune claiming SIXTY HP gain

I remember those spring kits that went under the dizzy. Tried it back in like 83 on a Camaro. Tried em' all. Even diff combinations. No tangible gains. Like the man says there is no such thing as free HP. IF any of these worked, GM, Ford, or Mopar would buy the patent and put them on all their cars, making them instant top picks for anyone looking for performance.

This brings to mind how a small nearby city gave $500,000 cash money to these jokers who claimed they had a device that would bump the HP 10% on ANY engine. They said they'd build a factory and provide 100s of good paying jobs. Think the place was called Vortex or something like that. Their idea which was pages and pages long was basically something you bolted on top the carb which somehow smoothed the airflow going in. They said it would revolutionize the auto industry. Guess what? They took the money and ran. Never built the plant, the device to my knowledge never came to market. Although I remember seeing similar crappo in Warshawski and JC Whitney catalogs as a boy.

Hah !!! Airflow assist fans and blower scams - look up "Tornado air intake" or something close. One of the biggest scams on the planet and similar ones have been suckering drivers (especially teenagers) for many years. Why car owners fall for this crap is beyond me. Maybe they pay well for phony "reviews".

It's all in the same junk bin as so-called "chips", CAIs, various oil and gasoline additive snake oils, magic engine oils, magic spark plugs, magic air filters/oil filters etc., etc..

Dudes, it's NOT some underhanded plan by the Big Automotive folks to deprive us of a horsepower or a mpg - if it was worthwhile it would already have been built into your 1965 1975 1985 1995 whatever Flapfish XR54.93bX V-7 engine. That crap IS cleverly designed and marketed to play on insecurities and doubts - al the while significantly lightening your wallet for the benefit of others.

Qualifier: Since 1953 I have probably used enough Marvel Mystery Oil to float a battleship. Has it hurt anything? I don't think so. Has it done anything beneficial? I don't know. Has it made me feel all warm and fuzzy? Yes (sometimes).

I've had a bottle of MMO sitting on the shelf for 20 years. Still haven't come up with a good use for it. Just like Gorilla Glue. Got a brand new bottle that I've never found a situation where some other goo wouldn't work as well or better. I do go through a ton of SeaFoam though. It goes into all my small motors and any and all gas I bring home in a can, regardless of intended use.

When I worked part time behind the parts and service counter at our local Western (Tire &) Auto we pushed various additives like crazy. Google "spiff". It paid more than my gasoline bill every month.

Yes, I do treat my "yard gas" with stabilizer and maybe a tad of MMO.

.......... besides. MMO smells good. Always has.
