Sad to say, but this is a 1998 Cadillac Catera after being crashed into by a Ford E250 full size van driven by a drunk driver. Looks like the Cat gave everything it had to absorb the impact but it was too much. A young mother and her 5 month old baby were injured in the crash. The DUI a-hole was previously charged with the same crime and ducking his court appearances. I hope the injured recovered and the a-hole is locked up. The links lead to the story and pictures of the Catera.

That Cat gave up all its nine lives at once.

Maryland is incredibly permissive. Criminals are coddled there. It's the kind of society that elevates rehabilitation over public safety. And if rehabilitation fails, the answer then becomes MORE rehabilitation, with punishment being subordinated. Sure this thinking jeopardizes moms and babies, and all others. They don't care.

Given the age of the victim/driver here, a very young woman, and it being a 1998 Cat, I'm gonna assume she bought it cheap. It's come as an eye opener for me that so much crash protection can be had for small money. It's not an aspect of the car I had focused on previously, though the weight of the Cat would have been a clue, a hint, had I thought about it and put two and two together. Usually I think about the Cat's weight as a negative; probably need to re-think that.

Bottom line the outcome speaks very well for the Cadillac Catera . . . and very poorly for Maryland.
