So I was flipping through the latest C&D Mag and I found the following website in the back add sections. http://www.calipercovers.com

One of my minor complaints about my 08 STS is how grungy my Calipers look… So I was thinking about adding a set of the red caliper covers.
http://www.calipercovers.com/_e/200..._Cadillac_STS_CTS_CTS4_Red_Caliper_Covers.htm

The installation looks to be very easy and I could probably finish this mod in less than an hour or two (closer to 2 if I enjoy a couple frosty brews during my install).

What are your thoughts?

I think it would really class up the wheel wells of my boring JE5 STS4… I was also going to check eBay in case I can find them cheaper then 200 bucks + shipping.

$200 seems a little expense for just caliper covers. I bought a caliper paint kit I think from Pep Boys for less then $15 and did them myself on a Saturday while downing a few cold ones. Here is a picture of my car after

Well if you paint them you can go with any color you wish. I agree it is not that difficult of a job. I'd do that before spending the $200.

BTW some commentors.......... If you don't like someones ride just let it go. Don't be immature. Come on you can do it.....maybe.

Guess I'll explain myself again for the V6 kids out here:

You own a Cadillac. It is a nicely styled luxury car. There is a reason why Cadillac chose not to put on plastic chrome door handle covers, plastic chrome door pillar posts, and ghetto chrome hoodrich wheels. They have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on marketing research to figure out what looks "Classy" and defines Cadillac. After all their R&D, they found that the majority of people (and what is best for the brand,) was SUBTLE chrome accents across the window sills, and in the later year STS' across the bottom of the rocker panel and top of the rear bumper. These were classy modifications. The huge chrome door pillar posts look cheesy, as do aftermarket chrome wheels. The wheels Cadillac chose to offer on these cars, and accessory wheels, look great. 99% of people would agree with the fact that most factory wheels fit this car perfectly. Again, that is due to countless hours of research and design.

Did you know why Brembo calipers are usually red, or an offset color? Because THEY ARE BIG BRAKES. They DESERVE to stand out. They call attention to the fact that you have six piston calipers. Painting tiny little single or dual piston V6 calipers looks foolish. If you like the look of Big Brembo Brakes, get big brembo brakes. Dont get plastic ebay covers that are going to warp and block airflow, that also look fake. This is why I had to laugh.

Also, don't put up a post about your tasteless modifications if you cant handle the negative remarks from other members, who may have a better idea of how things look than yourself. Thanks!

As much as I hate to admit it (AKA KSTS), I have to agree with you. I have not found any wheels that I like better than the OEM, and chrome in the wrong places does look cheesy:bouncy:

Although I do agree with the majority of what you said 550HP STSV, I have noticed that every time you have made a comment in this forum, you mention V6 STS's...you do realize that many of us, me included have NorthStar V8's in our STS's right? And even though I don't have massive 6 piston Brembo brake calipers, the calipers I do have are not tiny.

Everyone has their own opinion about anything that anyone does not matter what it is. Must be a lot of people buying after market add-ons because they continue to make them for the Cadillac. Just because you think its tasteless doesn't make it tasteless, again that's your opinion. I could feel the same way about yours.

First off, they are powder coated aluminum, not plastic. Secondly... They act as a heat sink to help keeps the calipers cool and reduce break fading. Finally the v6DI is damn near as powerful as the north star while providing ~10mpg more than the aged northstar. I thought they sounded functional and looked nice..

I could have easily afforded a new cts-v as I make 180k + bonuses a yr. But I'm not a track guy so what would be the Point. I got a killer deal on nice very low mileage sedan and it keeps miles off my 06 land rover hse that I bought with cash new in 06... To get to the point, there are really loud judge-mental folk on this forum...its too bad they seem to overshadow the nice helpful ones.

And opinions don't bother me just ignorant people.

I agree with anyone when they say they want to make their car, their own. This is the beauty of the people... not everyone likes the same thing. I'd hate to see nothing but a Ford Focus everywhere I look. At least I can look around and often say "Wow, I have a much better looking car than that guy!" LOL. You have to climb into your car everyday and you have to be the one to enjoy its appearance. Frankly, it doesn't really matter what anyone else likes or dislikes. I've seen some mods that, IMO, look absolutely hideous. Who's to say I'm right? Who's to say the other guy is right? When I put chromed factory wheels on my Bonneville, most people thought it looked great. One or two didn't like them. Guess what... I love how they look and they're staying.

Do what you want with your car. All you need to keep in mind is that if you sell your car, poor quality workmanship or mods that are a little over the edge for most people may limit your potential market. Since GM puts these vents on the car, I don't think most people shopping for an STS would likely give it a second thought. Again, keep in mind quality of workmanship (straight, level, correct placement, symmetry from side to side).
