Is there a way to theft proof the escalade spare? I know about detachable seats in my 2009 escalade hybrid where there is an extra piece of equipment to lock the seats in place. How about our spare tire? Wasn't an issue in my spare less hybrid.

The key from your fob is used to unlock the opening where you stick the rod in to roll the tire down onto the ground. I guess its a safe as anything. Btw, not sure anyone would want the tire, even though its full sized its still only a "temporary" tire with very low tread.

As said I would not want the spare that comes with the truck, you will find that many owners can not get it out of it's location when it's needed, or maybe that's just our customers. ;)

That is good there is some security for it, I have been surprised to see the things people steal that we think are of little or no value.

Had an 07 Yukon Denali XL and the spare was always seized up there and the truck had to be towed to the dealer to get it down if we had a flat, what a drag?

Don't even have spares on our 2013 Platinums and that left a great spot for my hubby to install a 102db train horn on his Esky! Since the spare on the Yukon was always stuck, we figured we don't need the spare anyhow.
