It's on it's way. I'll take pics when I get it. The service manager (a buddy of mine) had to talk to the regional rep and Caddy tech (engineering) to get it. I made sure it was the 15XXXXXX diff. I asked him about 5 times if it was the new one and he said yes & read the 15XXXXXX number back to me. He said when he looks up the old number 10XXXXXX on the computer it says..."replaced by 15XXXXXX". That allowed him (with permission) to get the new diff ordered UNDER WARRANTY! Wooooooooohoooooooooo!

I know one guy already has it (not under warranty) and it whined but maybe it will be a little better and hopefully it will get rid of the damn CLUNK!

He said if your dealership pushes for the new one you will get it but if not you will get the old one untill they run out.

Am I the first one to get one under warranty?

Mine is under warranty, but they wouldn't warranty the old one due to my kit being there.

Of course that was just a piss poor excuse to get out of doing it. And the whine has not increased at all, so it seems fine, but the clunking is getting just a little worse, but nothing like the orig diff.

Your new diff is under warranty but you had to pay for some of it, correct? I'm not paying for mine. :D It's replaced as a warranty item.

I think I'm the first one to get the old diff replaced by the new one without paying anything (under warranty). This will be great new for the rest of you because hopefully everyone else will be able to get it to WITHOUT paying for it!

Well the service manager called me yesterday and said it was in. :D I said can you tell me if it's FOR SURE the new one and he said..."well let me read the part number to you...15XXXXXX" Guys, I'm going to take a pic of the Diff and my receipt (for those that wont believe I didn't pay for it) when I get there. I'm not 100% convinced myself but he swears it's the new one. :bouncy:

I'm scheduled to put have it put in next Tuesday. Boy I got a lot going on with my car over the next week.

Just thought y'all may want to know! ;)

Congratulations.

Hopefully GM burns through their "old" stock and starts issuing new ones shortly. GM's stock has been taking a beating lately, so we shall see what they are willing to do.

It is the NEW one and I paid NOTHING for it!

Well boys...here it is they are putting in the new 06 CTS-V diff. See the new part number (15793756) in the picture below. Looks like I got the first one under warranty. I PAID NOTHING FOR IT! :yup:

So when your dealership says they can't...well here is proof they can. The dealership is putting it in now.

I will post a pic of my reciept to show I paid nothing for it and it was under warranty...for all the people that think I'm BS'ing...lol!

Mine was replaced with the 45 MPH whine alone. This was about 2 months ago so I got the old one. My new one is already whining, not as bad at the moment...so they didn't replace it this last time it was in the shop. I should get the '06 rear under warranty this next time.

This is the 3rd diff I have had on the car and its only got 8K miles on it. They replaced it just because it was whining at 45 mph. They know about my headers and other mods...they are putting the new (15793756) diff on with no questions asked!

I think I have one of the best dealerships out there! I don't know why other dealerships are saying they wont replace the old one with the new one till March. So now everyone knows it is possible to get the old one replaced with the new one as a warranty item....meaning you pay nothing!

Well. I just picked it up from the dealership and the new diff is on the car. I paid nothing for it! They said Caddy engineering said to drive it for 20 miles and let it cool down then drive it for 20 miles and let it cool down...then dont go over 50 mph for 500 miles. I'm going to Atlanta tomorrow so that should be 400 of the miles in that one trip.

Tell your dealership you want the new one as a warranty item (free). They can do it!

Pics of the new diff in the car...

I will post pics of the reciept when I get it. He left the paperwork open cuzz he had to order me a new radiator. When the radiator comes in I will post a copy of the reciept so you can see it was a warranty replacement (free). :)
