I'm So tried of listening to the clunck in our drive trains, that I have to turn up the radio or get an exhaust.:hmm:

Who else is being drivin crazy by the CLUNCK ?????????:bonkers:


I have had many cars like a Z06,an SS Camaro,an Corvette,all 6 speeds, and I have NEVER had a Clunck like this.:banghead:


Cadillac should Change our Flywheels to the 2006 models. Just my own .02 cents.

Man, I could not agree more! It's the one thing that REALLY takes away from all the great things about the V. There must be something we can do if we all stick together. That plus the concern you all have instilled in me for driving in the snow really sucks.

Are you saying the 2006 has a single-mass flywheel (or some other non-clunking thingee)? I hadn't heard that...

The 55Lbs of ruber bushings all over the car certainly doesn't help.

Going to a single flywheel, and a single piece drive shaft, with a standard U connection to the diff, would go a LONG way into fixing an @ssload of issues.

I know you guys may find this hard to believe, but my '04 with 7500 miles has not once, ever, exhibited anything even closely resembling a "clunk" in the drivetrain. Wheel hop? Leaky radiator? Whining rear? Yup, got all that......but no "clunk" of any kind.

There must be other owners out there without the "clunk".....? If so, give a shout out so these guys can see if this is isolated or not.

One quick note about the clunk. You might check to see if the nut that tightens the differential to whateveryamachallit it tightens too, is tight. :hmm: Some time back I took my car into the dealer complaining for the second or third time, they put it on the rack and found the nut was backed off an inch or so. :rant2: When they tightened it up 90% of the clunk was gone!:cool:

For me, my clunking was due to a worn out rear differential isolator bushing. The rubber had totally disintegrated and was allowing my differential to move up and down about a 1/2" each way and bang metal against metal each time I shifted gears. After changing the bushing out all I can feel now is the ever so slight gear lash when engaging or disengaging gears which isn't even noticable in comparison.
