I don't know how I haven't posted in this thread yet. I guess I've just been too busy admiring...

Do any of the new NASA rule changes affect your build at all? I haven't read everything, but it looks like there are some big ones for the whole TT/PT/ST format. I didn't do TT at all this season due mainly to Air Force stuff, but I was thinking about moving to TTA next year. It doesn't even exist anymore.

Yes. Based on the rule changes that came out a week before the car was done I will fit right into the new ST3 without any issues and should be competitive.

We ended up using a C5 Vette upper steering shaft and a corvette hub...

Any reason the hub adapter for the Cadi wasn't used? Sparco and Momo both list hub adapters for the non telescopic Cadi columns. Do the steering wheel buttons on the Momo control anything? BTW send me those brake ducts and I'll give them a shot.

Not certain. There was a call made to Momo about that because the part numbers listed were for early models.
The shop seemed to know what route to take so I left it up to them. I have the old upper so I know it was definitely swapped out.
For now the buttons aren't connected but I plan to use them for something later.

I'll get those boxed this week...

Always meant to ask if you're running a fuel cell. Understand you don't need to with our car anyway. The reason I ask is because in one of your pics it looks like a fire system tube and nozzle is penetrating the rear bulk head you had fabbed up. I assumed this was headed for the trunk where a fuel cell would mount. ATL has a cool one that mounts in the spare tire well. It's only 12 gallons but most of us can probably get away with it.


Ooops.....remember you posting Phoenix drilled a hole in the tank by mistake..... so no fuel cell. So what's that line going to the rear trunk area?

the line I think you're talking about is for the fire system...

Two options if you go with a fuel cell. The Powell guys put it in the same postion as the stock one to aid with weight distribution IIRC. As seen in this pic:

Unfortunately not yet. The GoPro wasn't charged the only day I went to the track. Then hurricane Sandy came and washed out the rest of the track days.
I'll have it all set up by the spring and hopefully the data acquisition/loggers too...

*** UPDATE 8/15/2013 ***

All is going well with the shakedown, some minor changes mostly for driver comfort.

- In keeping the overall silver scheme, the closeout panel for the trunk was originally painted silver to match the cage along with the windshield/rear glass supports. This proved to be a mistake as the afternoon sun created way too much glare for my liking. Also the windshield supports had too much flex for high speeds and turbulence off of other cars. So we basically pulled the glass and painted the rear deck portion flat black along with all the other window supports. The windshield supports were also redone in an angled aluminium to add more strength and rigidity.

-Changed the rear tow hook to a folding Rennline type with a GoPro mount. The original one was fixed and my shins were killing me.

-Added on an APR Front Splitter in carbon fiber. I'm also looking into a rear wing to balance the car. Unfortunately it comes with a price as any non factory aero is assessed a small penalty.

They took the rubber wicker off and then trimmed the little strip off the bottom of the cover so it would mount flush. They used the existing holes in the cover from the wicker and fabbed up mounts on the frame. They pulled the whole bumper off and made a plate for the supports on the underside of the cover. Its mounted up pretty solid. We'll see how it holds up...

I hope it does. Supposedly those splitters see hundreds of pounds of force, which is going to be directed into the supporting structure. If you can't stand on it, I wouldn't drive with it.

I had planned on sending a cardboard template to them at some point. D3 and Sean Southland have already had them done and now [email protected] has them for sale on eBay so I picked it up. Apparently they fit both the V1 and V2...
