About 6 months ago i noticed that my fan would start running in drive throughs and at random times. at that time the temp guage was still normal. a notch right under 220. about a month ago i was in a drive through and heard the fan and looked at my guage and it was running a notch ABOVE 220, as i was watching it. the needle dropped back down to the normal temp and did not rise again but the fan stayed on until i cut the car off and then i heard another fan running for about 2-3 min or so.

Now almost everytime i drive the fan comes on and the temp gauge is beginning to do the same thing. it will rise for a min or 2 and then fall quickly back down to normal temp and run fine. no engine light and car does not seem to be runnig hot
any ideas what this could be from?
faulty temp sensor?
overheating? do i need to get addressed right away. its beginning to warm up and i dont want to over hear or anything.

I had the exact same symptoms. The fan was running a lot (although it was very hot here in Socal at the time, it still seemed to be running more than normal). Eventually after a few months I woke up to an engine light. Took it in, and the culprit was a faulty thermostat. Had the thermostat replaced and everything went back to normal - problem solved.

Yes, get it taken care of soon. Overheating can lead to warped heads and other major, costly items.
