I just moments ago finished up replacing my SWPS because I was getting the Service Stability System error on the DID. The greatest help came from a post that cancerjcc posted defining the steps along with pictures. A very simple task and all went back together except I cannot remember where a small clip went. It seems to me a grounding or static strap. It is a 1/8" wide metal clip in the shape of a U with one leg a little shorter and then the ends are bent in.

I would like to know if this piece is vital and maybe even more important to my sleep where it came from. I seem to remember taking it off the bottom of the SWPS area and then it clipping onto the forward most aluminum steering column mount. I just could not figure out where it went so I just buttoned everything back up and put the clip in the door pocket where I will check another Cadillac when I go the the dealer for a recall repair.

All the errors have cleared and did not return when taking a short ride which is all one can ask for.

Thank you all. This site (forum) is sure a blessing for us DIYers

if Im thinking of the same clip you are describing, there is a clip like that in the front pillars that are for the tweeter they are just to tidy up and hold the wire back...might be the same for your application wasnt really needed for the tweeters.

Realistically I think I could do the next one in an hour. It is not that hard once the basic concept of where the SWPS is and what it does. The post describing the remove/replace procedures was right in this forum with all of the pictures to help in a very good step by step process. It really is not safe to drive these cars without their stability systems working, FYI. The OP of the post was/is cancerjcc .? soundz like ? Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

Crap, the error came back 15 minutes into a highway drive. What's next on the list of items that cause the "Service Stability System" error? Anybody?

I checked the wheel speed sensors by removing all the wheels and disconnecting them to induce an error and they all worked.

I understand there is a Yaw sensor? At times just before I get the Stability system error I will get "Traction enabled" for a brief period then the Stability error will trigger. Could somebody please tell me where to check next.

Thank you.
