I sometimes wondered the same with my '93 Coupe DeVille......
hehe, me too, in my 90 Coupe. But i think getting a computer made that will work with the car and engine would either be way to much money or just not doable. although, people do put N* in feiros all the time. I wonder if you just swaped the engine/trany/and ECU from a N* car if it would work.

Or talk to those guys that make heads and stuff for N*s and put them in sand cars if they can make you a computer for it, then you could get the heads and cam and have 400hp and then get a 5-speed from a feiro or somthing and beef it up to handle the power, now THATS a sleeper.

Im going to agree with vanaisa....... there are soooo many things you can do to maximize the power from your current engine, rather than just giving up and swapping a new engine.......

Clean the TB, the hole the TB hooks into (plenum), change all your filters, have the injectors flushed, etc...... So many things you can do to get it back to like new.....

Why switch in a differnt engine?

the 4.9 is a great engine, tourqe is very good.... 275ft lbs at 3000rpm, hp is a little lacking at 200 at 4100rpm.....

....swap in a N*, you already have 100more hp, and about 20 more ft lbs. of tourqe, higer rev band, and an actual aftermarket, the 4.9 has no after market......

Don't get me wrong, I love the 4.9, and my car weighs 3500 lbs, the '94+ DeVilles and every other car the N* was in (SeVille, Eldo etc..) weighs 4000lbs... so despite the 100 extra hp, my car weighs 500lbs less.

Wes, there is pretty much nothing to do to a 4.9 to get more power, all there is, is a K&N air filter and a Fast chip or Super Chip, that's it....

.....too bad someone couldn't makes headers, cam, ANYTHING for it, but what it has is what it has.....

.....wonder how much a RWD conversion would be :D

If you need those 100HP so desperedly, why you dont buy NOS?
Its little cheaper, than start to rebuild whole car/electronics?

thats a good way to get the 100hp fast, but i wonder if the stock 4.X trany could handle the juice, a 50 or 75 shot shouldnt be to bad, but i dunno about 100. And if you think about it you can get headers, they just have to be costom made, you can get your heads ported, same with your intake and a costom ground cam too, but its just gona cost alot to do it.

You can not tell me that cleaning stuff up, and running some injector cleaners and stuff like that wont help.......

But yes, unfortunately, it would be much easier to buy a car with the northstar in it......

Actually it has the 4.5 V8 in it. I believe there are no injectors to clean. Straight carb.

After doing further research and reading everybody opinions I think i'll just go get a tune up instead of spending all that money on a N*.

Turn around and Lick it up!

That was a long time ago! ha ha

My opinion on the engine swap would be this; I would rather cut the front floorboards out and Fred Flinstone it as to drop a N* under the hood. If you want Luxury+Dependability May i suggest a 94'-96' Fleetwood? Then you have the Best of Both Worlds. :spin:
