suspension question

1095 Views 12 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  RobertCTS
I am having an issue locating lowering springs for my 2006 3.6L CTS. Sprint, Intrax, and Eibach are not warranting the use of their 05 design on the 06. There isn't a significant difference between the two years in regards to the suspension, is there? Any one out there know of who has springs for my car? Thanks for any help you can give.:banghead:

To my knowledge the suspension has never changed with the exception of the CTS-V. Try www.thetirerack.com and ask them. They do get back with you.

Here's a contact there. His name is Greg Mann, The Tire Rack

I wouldn't worry about a warranty. Springs don't typically 'go bad'. The '06 is pretty much identical to the '04 and '05 and the springs will fit fine. Get the Eibachs. DON'T let anyone talk you into downgrading to the non-load leveling shocks (they all recommend it), if yo have nivomats (if you have HID headlights, you have nivomats).

Do a search on "nivomat mods" in the CTS-V forum, and you'll find a very simple solution to lowering the self-leveling shocks. I just upgraded to the FE4 shocks from the CTS-V to better match the Eibach spring rates, which are within 3% of the V rates. Mine will be going on shortly (when I can make the time), after sitting in the garage for about 4 months.
Welcome and enjoy the ride! (Both your ride and this forum)
I appreciate the welcomes and the help. I will make sure I post befor and after pics.

Both Intrax and Sprint have now contacted me and said that they don't have an application for the 06. I do believe they will work (including the Eibach's), but I would rather be sure of the exact lowering height prior to purchasing. The 3.6 L may just be heavy enough to change the ride height as compared to the 3.2 L.

Well, they've been using the 3.6L since the beginning of the '04 model year, so that means nothing....there is NOTHING different between the suspensions of an '04-05 and an '06.
I appreciate all of your help. Looks like I'm going with Eibach. I had a good experience with them when I had my 97 Eclipse GST. I put Drop Zone springs on my Jetta and it was a rough ride. Thanks again.
Be aware that you may have alignment issues if you run 20" rims and drop it. There are no corrections for it either.
Too late.:bomb: Is this warning from personal experience or from a dealer or tire shop? I already purchased the Eibachs from tirerack.com and bought 20" Diablo Fatboys from America's tire. Looks like I may have to buy many sets of the Falken Azenis ST115 for my silversmokenVstylen CTS.

Thanks for all your help though. :yup:

Most of the time adjustments can be made for alignment. A few didn't have enough camber to correct the alignment. Good chance you may have to roll your fenders for clearance. Some haven't had problems where as many have.
There is a good article here on the Forum as why the 20 tire ruins the suspension geometry. It written by Pietro. Good Luck
