Here's the scenario, is this the way Caddy sunroofs work?

I have a '97 STS with the sunroof/moonroof option. Whenever the roof is open to ANY position by sliding backward to that position and I turn the key off, the sunroof closes; then opens to that position; then closes again; then opens to that position again; then stays there.

Seems weird to me that it would close twice before staying in the original opened position.

On the otherhand, if I just raise the rear of the sunroof for ventilation then turn the key off it closes tight and stays closed. Unfortunately I wish this would be the position I could keep it open with the key off/removed from the ignition.

Is this how they all operate or is this a quirk?

You have an aftermarket sunroof on your vehicle (it did not come from the factory with it--it was installed later). The factory roof does not have an auto-close feature. You need to have the cables and tracks lubricated. That's usually why it does not operate properly.
