The HVAC is great in this car. I dont see it giving you issues. the sunroof is a nice touch on the car.

Sunroof has very good tinting. I always drive around without the shade here in Texas. Already had some sunny days, had no need to close it. The shade still lets a lot of light go through which i like.

Getting ready to order v and was wondering about the amount of light and radiant heat that still comes through the thin shade for the sunroof.
I think the shade is a great design. It lets in a little light, but no glare. I don't notice any abnormal heat coming from the roof when it is closed.

I noticed heat and light coming through the sunshade, so when I had all my windows tinted, I had the sunroof tinted 5% and almost nothing comes through now.

If you are worried about heat or light coming through, get it tinted like I did.

I have the sunroof, and honestly I don't get any benefit from having it. If I open it up, it's not like I'm in a convertible.

If I leave the thin shade, it does OK at cutting out light, but you can still get heat through it.

Buying off the lot the sunroof option was a given, and I'm glad I bought it from a resale perspective, but if I had to do it over I would have looked harder for one without

I had all my windows tinted to 40% and i tinted the sunroof with a 5% heat insulating film for good measure (its the most expensive film because it blocks out 70% of the heat with almost no effects on visibility lol). Every CTS-V owner i know did something to the sunroof. Im kinda surprised by the fact that the shade is just a thin piece of cloth... its different so I kinda like it.

I ordered and received a 2009 CTS-V with no sun roof. I happily did not have one on my 2004 CTS-V and I did have one on my 2005 CTS-V. The 2005 had it because it was on the car on the lot. I opened it once to see if it worked. The sun roof on the 2009 CTS-V is about twice as large as on the V1 and the screen is not totally opaque like the V1. As far as I am concerned it is another useless option that might rattle and/or leak. I will never have one again on any air conditioned car that I own.

Yup. I like mine as well. It's a unique approach, and appears to me to be a (small) weight-savings versus having a more solid piece.

It's too cold to know whether it's good at keeping the heat out, so I'll take everyone else's word on that.

I don't like the shade myself. It is to thin. I want to feel like I am in a cave sometimes... you just can't block out all the light. However, at night the sunroof is a plus.
lol, I know what you mean. I like that claustrophobic feeling in the car. Thats why my interiors are always black. The only way to get around that would be like people have said, tint the sunroof and prevent the light getting in that way.
