Has anyone on here installed a 8 or 10 inch sub in the rear panel in the back of an 02-up escalade?

If so what all did you do to accomplish it? I have seen it done on a tahoe just wondering if anyone has tried it on an escalade?

In the 02 and 03 models is this the location of the factory bose sub? If so could I not just buy the parts for an 02 or 03 and replace the sub with a JL 8?

I have two 10" rockford fosgate punches installed where that panel is, I had a local dealer do a custom install job that came out really well. Not only are there two 10" subs in a sealed box that have been painted to match the interior, but I didn't lose my jack space or even the cup holder by the rear passenger seat, and the box only rises up a few inches above where the standard panel was, so it doens't obscure the rear quarter window. It's not a gigantic amount of bass because it's a sealed box so you won't piss of people at a stop light, but it sounds loud as hell inside the truck. Also most importantly I can still use my third row seat and it's pretty much invisible to thieves, I had my flip down monitor stolen and they didn't even notice the custom sub box.
I'll post some pictures up once I get my new flip down installed.
Stuntless,

Would be interested in seeing the pix when you can get them. BTW, what good would a ripped out monitor be? Or did they remove the entire unit?

that sounds like something I'd like to do. i'd like to see just how high it goes up.

i mentioned this in an earlier post in this thread i but went to a local place here in the bay area and they said they'd have to use up the entire space (jack space, cup-holder and all) and fabricate it just for a single JL 10".

They ripped out the flip down screen and the mount and cut the wires, I saw the same monitor on ebay for only $300 so I don't know what they thought they were going to get for it. Best part was they dropped their cell phone in my car and the cops did absolutely shit with it. I should have told them they stole my handgun too then maybe they would have actually looked for them.
I was going to go with two Eclipse subs buy they were too deep, the punches were shallow enough to mount into the side though. Like I said the box isn't ported because it wouldn't really work so again not as deep a bass as could be, but still nice and tight, and they were able to keep the jack space there.
I'm getting my new monitor installed next wed. so I'll post some pics up once I get everything cleaned up, I'd highly recommend this approach for anyone who wants to keep their storage space and third row capability but still wants better bass than the stock sub.

You put 3 12" subs behind the third row, but what type? Three 12's do fit back there? Definitly post pictures because I want to keep my third row and have subs back there. Would 2 JL Audio W6's fit behind the third row?

Thanks.

Maybe some 10s... you need small enclosure subs, ones that have shorter magnets...

Here are mine, some of the best SQ speakers ever!

Good small enclosure subs: Treo Tsi, Type Rs, IDQ series,

MJA (or anyone else that has tried something similar to the Subbox.net under the seat option),

Have you received and installed your under the seat sub box yet? I am leaning towards trying that with one 10" Alumapro sub (VERY good subs, just not as well known as many others). I am curious as to how well this works, as I agree that it is probably the easiest install for a sub addition.

Well guys I just picked up my suds (JL Audio 10w7) last night I will start working on the box as soon as work permits. I don't what to lose my third row seats either.
I'm going to get the 12w6, when I get my finances together. When you get your set-up installed show some pictures, so I can get some ideas. I really don't care that much about space in the rear.. I care to a point, but even only keeping half the space is good for me. Make sure to post something when you get it hooked up..

Well I have ordered the subbox.net under the middle row seating sub box, although I did order it from www.supercrewsound.com, as they had the same box for a lower price. I am going to put my 10" Alumapro Alusonic sub in it, and drive it with about 300 watts. Although I am by no means looking to blow out my windows with SPL, I am hopeful that this setup will produce some powerful bass. I will certainly let people know how well it works once I have it all installed. Should have the box within about a week.

I just dont know if 1 -10' sub is going to be enough for my ESV togo in the box that mounts under the seat or I can get a box with 2-12's and just put it in the very back. then you have to move it when you need the space or worry about somone jacking it. I dont know what i want todo yet

Yea botz.. I likes that! When I get around to my sound system, I'm installing 2 of those 12" subs in my Escalade. I'm going with the 12w6v2 series.. I don't want to push the glass right off the doors or anything. Just some subs with enough durability to handle about 500rms. I have 2 Kicker DX700's.. single channel mono amplifiers. Those subs look good too that's another reason I'm interested in them.

mja - got your PM but because i don't have 50 posts yet , i can't actually reply to you. i can receive PMs but can't reply to them -- seems like a minor interaction design issue :hmm:

anyway, i've only been in the research / planning phase and haven't had the sub install yet. but the guy i talked to said he'd have to replace the panel with a custom one and would give up that comparment space. although i've heard of someone here in this forum who said they were able to install a sub in the same space, without a custom enclosure and without giving up the compartment space as well.
