STS Wheels on the CTS

Hey guys, before you skip this thread and say use the search function:banghead: ...I have already researched this but found some conflicting information and a lot of it is several years old. I have the opportunity to buy some 18x8 chrome 14 spoke wheels off of an STS.

I know the CTS can handle the 18x8's, but what is the final word on the 51mm offset? Will I be rubbing the suspension? What if I run a more narrow tire like a 235?

Or should I just bag the whole idea and go with these? I kind of like them better anyway.

I remember WickedGoat saying he has access to a great wheel/tire compatibility guide at his tire shop and TX has run a bunch of wheel setups. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I like the MKW wheel too. I can get the Gun Metal in a 18" 5x115 +45, guaranteed to be no problems for $560 out the door. Or I can take a chance on the STS wheels.

TX do you remember seeing any of these posts in the past that say we can't fit the 18x8 wheels off of the STS?

This guy tried to install the 18x8 9 spoke STS wheels with +51mm offset:

BTW, did you you say a few months back that you have a few sets of STS rims? Do you have any 18s?
I found a late contender. These are the wheels I am going with. I am getting a sick deal! I'll just hope that the STS offset wont be a problem.

Tx are your STS rims +51? The rims im looking at are off of an 06. Here's what doesn't make sense to me: I have read that my stock 16s are also +51 offset. So the only difference is the width of the rim. We really don't have a half an inch to play with?
Do you have 17x8s or 17x7.5s?
I assumed that based on your tire widths. That's good news for me! I've got some black sts v caps sitting in a box that will finally be installed!
I will post some pics this weekend as soon as I have them on. The new tires will have to wait though. I have a buddy that can get me a discount on Falkens. I am thinking the ZE-512s in a 245/45. Any thoughts?
