I know that the 98+ SLS Exterior rocker trim is a plastic/grey color without foglights, and I also know that the rocker trim on an STS is monochromatic/same color as the car... But today I was looking at a '98 black STS (I made sure it really was an STS) and the rocker trim on the front bumper (right under the foglights) was the grey/plastic color and the rest of it (under the doors and on the rear bumper) was the same color as the car... Is this just a flaw from the facotry or is it normal, because it is not the first one that I have seen.

I bet it was replaced and never painted. Mine is body color.

Jmac, I would put money on it as well, that it was more than likely a replaced part not painted.

Hi, thanks, I found a picture of ann STS for sale online with what I am talking about... and asked him about it, he said he bought it like that hmm.... sounds like cadillac might have screwed up a few of their STS's unintentionally...

It gets better. I just looked at an '03 Seville brochure and both models have body color moldings and foglamps.
As for some of the STS's not having the lower portion painted, maybe it came that way depending on the color?

The 98-02 STS and SLS bumper covers have different part numbers. The SLS should have a rough surface where it's not suppose to be painted while the STS has all smooth, paintable surfaces. Just check the lower surface to see if it's the correct cover for the application.

I was the one that asked all those annoying questions about the CAI and airbox mod......

Funny, I didnt even get a caddy!!!!!! I got an infiniti with a CAI (similar to your setup) stock.....!!
