I'm going to replace the shocks on my STS-V. Are people generally replacing with the ~$1000 Sachs shocks, or is there another setup people are having luck with? Is there a particular supplier people have been going with? Thanks.

AutoZone has an INCREDIBLE price on the Front OEM Sachs shocks... I got mine for $250 for the pair! The issue is the 'rears' are still almost $300 each.

Exc. does mean ‘excluding or except’ right?

I'd say you're right. I did a quick search on Google and the only thing i found were OEM (AC Delco) replacements. The OEM rears are Nivomat. RockAuto has them. I don't think the Sachs were ever model specific for the STS-V, just the STS. Can't really confirm or deny that. As these cars age it will be harder to get parts, especially performance parts.
